Prevalence of congenital infections in the group of newborns born to
immune mothers:
29/2857 (1.0%)
Two protective factors against congenital CMVinfection:
- Preconception maternal immunity (adjusted risk ratio 0.31;
95%CI 0.17 to 0.58)
- Maternal age of 25 years or older (adjusted risk ratio 0.19;
95%CI 0.07 to 0.49)
Natural acquired immunity results in a 69% reduction in the risk of
congenital CMV infection in future pregnancies.
