41. LITHOPS SCHWANTESII<br />

<strong>Lithops</strong> Schwantesii. (Plate 35a.) Growths usually 2 in a clump; top of lobe<br />

convex; sides mauve grey; window opaque; top of lobes grey green, yellowish<br />

brown, yellow reddish, all with a greenish tint or hue; in the young stage<br />

slightly rugulose which tends to disappear in the older stage; in the slight<br />

depressions fairly broad dark red lines and isolated dots of same colour, the<br />

lines being the dominant feature, both with a slightly mauve green border,<br />

giving the whole upper surface a suffused greenish tint; on the inner margin<br />

very often 5 6 red dots; isolated few to many green to light green miniature<br />

figure 99 . lithops schwantesii dtr.
