vel subaequalia, convexa vel plana; fenestra opaca, aurantiaco lutea, rugosa vel<br />

subrugosa; inter rugas liniis atro rubris notata; exteriore margine bifurcata.<br />

8. LITHOPS DINTERI<br />

<strong>Lithops</strong> Dinteri. (Plate 6.) Growths solitary or few in a clump, turbinate;<br />

more or less equal lobes; top of lobe flat or slightly convex; the sides coloured<br />

purplish green; top of lobes with a large transparent window and a few islands,<br />

seldom large, in which several white dots can be observed; window coloured<br />

transparent brown green; in the window 10–15 very prominently coloured<br />

blood red dots distributed unevenly over the surface; window bordered by a<br />

coloured band, outer part of which is light to dark yellow tinged with brown,<br />

this coloured margin more prominent and broader than the inner part of the<br />

border; in the margin at both ends where the fissure ends several dark green<br />

to dark blue green dots in the surface; inner margin practically straight and<br />

scarcely lobed or laciniated; outer margin with irregularly shaped laciniae,<br />

some projecting into the window and forming islands. Flowers yellow.<br />

South West Africa: Witsand (E. Rusch, 1926); Eendoorn, south of<br />

Warmbad.
