Implementer supports three paths in the IFS structure:
Project relative path is the portion of the path that is unique to each object in the
environment path. For example, \SUBDIR\PROGRAM.EXE.
Glossary
Environment path is the path specified at the environment level and common to all IFS
objects in that environment. For example, \MKS\DEMO\PRD\INVENTORY.
Full path is the environment path appended to the project relative path. For example,
MKS\DEMO\PRD\INVENTORY\SUBDIR\PROGRAM.EXE.
NOTE Avoid confusing the term path with the term application path, which refers to
both standard and emergency paths for projects and environments.
PeopleSoft World data dictionary element A data dictionary element refers to records in a
dictionary for every field used in the system. This file controls how a field performs and edits
on the screen and report. It also controls the edit processes of the field for validation.
PeopleSoft World DREAM Writer A DREAM Writer has two parts that break down as
follows: data selection that is translated to OPNQRYF or logical, and processing options that
are user-controlled, program passed parameters.
PeopleSoft World menu Menus are data records keyed to a menu name. This allows changes
to menus without the need for programming.
PeopleSoft World soft coding or vocabulary override Soft coding or vocabulary override
refers to literals on screens that are not constants in the DDS of a screen object, but are
retrieved from a file that is keyed to a program name. This allows changes to literals without
the need for programming.
PeopleSoft World software inventory or member master Software inventory or member
master is a file that records each object in PeopleSoft World. This file contains the general
severity level for compilation and other details for PeopleSoft World integration.
PeopleSoft World soft coding items These are soft coding items supported by PeopleSoft
World, such as user-defined codes, DREAM Writers, Member Master, Data Dictionary, Soft
Coding, and Menus.
PeopleSoft World traditional object These are traditional objects that require PeopleSoft
World compiling, such as RPG programs, CL programs, and Assemblers (ASM).
PeopleSoft World user-defined code (UDC) User-defined code is a generic table system for
data field validation. The table system is controlled by three keys: System number, Table
name, Element.
primary target environment A primary target environment is the first target environment in
a series of multiple target environments. The primary target environment is used in create
request to check the existence of the target members/objects, to determine if the action for a
member/object is create or change.
