User Capability Wizard<br />

You may see polling of multiple OS/400 servers. A message confirms the status: Either<br />

ping of the specified server was successful, or a time out occurred without locating the<br />

server.<br />

To ping the system<br />

1 At a command prompt, type cd.. and press ENTER to display the root directory c:/.<br />

2 Type PING (system_name) and press ENTER.<br />

Installing on the Desktop<br />

You have two options for downloading and installing the JRE and Capability Wizard from<br />

the iSeries onto your PC. The method you choose is simply a matter of preference.<br />

Map Network Drive copies data by sector and may take longer than the FTP method,<br />

depending on the speed of your PC.<br />

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) performs a bulk data transfer. It is quicker than the map<br />

drive method, but involves more steps.<br />

The default installation directory is C:/<strong>MKS</strong>/<strong>Implementer</strong>/Capability Wizard. You can<br />

select a different directory if necessary.<br />

During installation of the Capability Wizard, you may be prompted to install the Java<br />

Runtime Environment if not already installed.<br />

To install the Capability Wizard using the Map Network Drive method<br />

1 Open Windows Explorer and click Tools > Map Network Drive. A Map Network Drive<br />

dialog box displays prompting for a drive and path name.<br />

2 Select the drive name to use or accept the default value.<br />

3 For the path, type:<br />

//Your_System_Name/<strong>MKS</strong>/<strong>Implementer</strong>/<strong>MKS</strong>IM<br />

NOTE The default product library name is <strong>MKS</strong>IM. If you changed the product<br />

library to another name, substitute the changed name for <strong>MKS</strong>IM.<br />

4 Make sure the Reconnect at Logon box is disabled and click OK. You may be prompted<br />

for a user ID and password to connect to the system.<br />
