Chapter 7: Administrative Utilities 382 Density Specify the density of the tape. The default value is *DEVTYPE. Target release Specify the release level of the operating system for the saved objects. The default value is *CURRENT. Initialize tape Specify whether to initialize the tape before the save operation. If you specify *NO and the tape has the wrong volume ID, a message notifies you that the volume ID does not match. You must correct the error before continuing. Submit The default value *YES submits the job to batch processing. Specify *NO to process the job interactively. Job queue/Library The default values *PRODUCT/*LIBL assign the default job queue defined in System Control Maintenance. Change the values as needed. Hold on job queue Specify the standard OS/400 submit job value as needed. To restore an archive from tape 1 From the Archives to Tape menu, select option 2, Restore Archives from Tape, or issue the IRSTARC command to display the Restore Archives from Tape (IRSTARC) command parameters. 2 Specify the IRSTARC command parameters as described next, and press ENTER. TIP Review the archive reports described in the next section to easily locate the requests to restore. Restore Archives from Tape (IRSTARC) Command Parameters Request Number Specify the request number to restore, or specify *ALL to restore all requests on the tape for the specified environment.
Environment Saving and Restoring Tape Archives Specify an environment to restore the recovered members/objects into. Archives restore into the same archive library they were saved from. Tape Device Specify the name of the device you are using to restore the tape. Submit Archive Reports The default value *YES submits the job to batch processing. Specify *NO to process the job interactively. Job queue/Library The default values *PRODUCT/*LIBL uses the default job queue defined in System Control Maintenance. Change the values as needed. Hold on job queue Specify the standard OS/400 submit job value as needed. IMPORTANT If you previously saved and cleared archive libraries, the Implementer files that manage the archives still reflect the object in the archive library, when actually, it is not. For this reason, a cleared object may still appear on the archive report, but any attempt to recover the cleared object fails since the object is not actually on the tape. To recover the remaining items on the request, use the IBM Data File Utility (DFU) command to remove the record that refers to the archive that was deleted from the Implementer archive file (IMARTP). Implementer provides report queries to help you manage tape archives. The following reports are available on the Archives to Tape menu: Archives per Tape Report Archives by Request Report Archives by Environment Report Select any of the respective menu options to prompt the query. Standard query record selection allows you to limit the reports to a specific tape, promotion request, or environment of interest. You have the option to view information online or print the report. 383
