Chapter 7: Administrative Utilities 380 Implementer provides query reports on the host system that allow you to locate and list all archives saved to tape. You can view the reports online or select to print. To restore a tape archive, you can use the menu option or a command option to restore the archives for any environment archive on a request you need to back out. To perform recovery, use Implementer Menu option 23, Archive Recovery, to select the request to recover. Implementer automatically creates and promotes a standard archive recovery request. You can browse the source through Archive Recovery or Object Inquiry. For details, see the MKS Implementer 2006 User Guide. Implementer supports using a third party save/restore utility to save archives to tape. For example, you can use IBM’s Backup Restore Management System (BRMS/400), or an internal program. For details, see “BRMS/400 Integration” on page 322. The archive to tape and restore from tape functions are available on the host and Implementer Receiver. You can run the jobs interactively or in batch. For details on the remote system functions, see “Saving and Restoring Remote Tape Archives” on page 192. Working With Tape Archives The Archives to Tape menu provides access to the functions and reports associated with tape archives. Access to these functions requires signing on to the system with the QSECOFR user profile, or a user profile that has a group profile of QSECOFR or QSECOFR capabilities. To access the Archives to Tape menu Do one of the following: From the Implementer Menu, type option 24, Archive to Tape, and press ENTER. From a command line, issue the STRIM *ARCTAP command, or the GO IMARCTAP command (library MKSIM must be in your library list). CAUTION The next task initializes a tape and optionally clears the tape contents. To avoid the loss of saved data, verify you have the correct tape before continuing. To save an archive to tape 1 From the Archive to Tape menu, select option 1, Save Archives to Tape to prompt the Archives to Tape (ISAVARC) command. You can also prompt the ISAVARC command from the command line.
2 Complete the command parameters as described next and press ENTER. Saving and Restoring Tape Archives Process the command interactively, submit for batch processing, or add it to a backup routine to automate the removal of new archives. NOTE When using a third party save/restore utility and you select option 1, the Save Archives to Tape panel is replaced as instructed by your internally described program in IMSVLB2 in QSAMPLE. As such, the remaining steps in this task do not apply; follow the steps applicable to the utility you are using. For more information, see “BRMS/400 Integration” on page 322. Save Archives to Tape (ISAVARC) Command Parameters Tape Device Specify the name of the tape device to use for the save operation. Archive library Do one of the following: Specify the name of the library that contains the archived objects. If multiple environments share an archive library, this allows you to save in a single operation all objects for all environments that use the library. Specify *ALL to save the objects from all archive libraries. This option allows you to save all objects in all archive libraries for all environments. Specify *ENV to save the objects for a particular environment. If multiple environments share an archive library, it saves only the objects for that environment rather than the entire contents of the library. This option requires a value in the following Archive environment field. Archive environment Specify the name of the environment associated with the archived objects. This saves the archived objects only, not the entire archive library. From date Specify a date (in YY/MM/DD format) to include all objects archived on or after the date. To date Specify a date (in YY/MM/DD format) to include all objects archived on or before the date. NOTE The From date and To date fields allow you to include objects that were changed on, before, after, or within the dates specified. Use the fields separately, or in combination to process a date range selection. The default value for each field is blank, which bypasses date filtering. 381
