Chapter 6: Third Party Integrations Domino Designer Setup and Configuration 340 The Implementer for Domino integration uses Uniform Resource Locator (URL) technology to access the iSeries and run the check out and promotion programs. This allows you to run the Implementer Software Adapter for Domino programs by using any viable method for accessing Internet addresses, such as: type the URL in the browser Address bar add the URL to the browser Favorites list create custom tools in Domino Designer 6.0 (SmartIcons in Domino Designer 5.0) Using Domino tools or SmartIcons allows you to customize the Implementer for Domino programs and run the browser-based functions from the desktop. These methods require you create either tools or icons defined with the URL path on the iSeries that points to the Web check out program and the Web promotion program. If you use MKS Integrity for issue management within Implementer, you can automate the integration by creating tools or SmartIcons to run MKS Integrity from within Domino Designer. For details on this feature, see “Implementer and Integrity Manager Integration” on page 21. To run the Implementer for Domino Web programs from an Internet Explorer or Netscape browser Open your browser, and in the Address bar type the URL for the iSeries (include the bin directive), for example: http://your-iSeries-name/cgi-bin/imweb?cmd=chkout where, //your_iSeries_name defines the iSeries host name /cgi-bin defines the reference within the HTTP configuration that points to the Implementer library /imweb?cmd=chkout defines the Implementer program to run To create custom tools in Domino Designer 6.0 1 From Domino Designer, click Tools > Add Tool. The Add Tool dialog box displays.
2 Follow the Domino Designer instructions for creating custom tools. Lotus Domino Integration In the Tool Name field, specify a text description to identify the menu item, for example, Implementer Check Out. In the Tool Action field, enable Run program. In the Tool Action text box, type the HTTP address location to access the Implementer Web function, for example: address for Web check out: http://system_name/cgi-bin/imweb?cmd=chkout address for Web reject: http://system_name/cgi-bin/imweb?cmd=reject address for Web promotion: http://system_name/cgi-bin/imweb?cmd=crtrqs From the Tool Context list, click the options that control when the tool is available. 3 Click OK to create the tool and add the tool to the Tools menu. 4 Repeat steps 1–3 for each Implementer Web function: check out, reject, and promotion. Once you complete this task, the Implementer Web functions are accessible from the Tools menu as illustrated next. 341
