To ping the iSeries servers 1 At a command prompt, type CD.., and press ENTER to return to the root directory C:/. 2 Type CWBPING (system name), and press ENTER. After polling the iSeries servers, a message confirms the status—either ping of the server was successful, or a time-out occurred and the server was not located. Use either of the following methods to download DTBridge from the iSeries and install onto your desktop. Map Network Drive allows you to copy data by sector. Depending on the speed of your PC, this method may take longer than File Transfer Protocol (FTP). FTP allows you to perform a bulk data transfer. This method is generally quicker than mapping a drive, but involves more steps. To download and install DTBridge using a mapped network drive 1 Open Windows Explorer, and click Tools > Map Network Drive. The Map Network Drive dialog box displays prompting for a Drive and Path name. 2 Select the drive name to use or accept the default value. 3 For Path, type //Your_System_Name/mks/Implementer/MKSIM NOTE The default, product library name is MKSIM. If you changed the product library to another name, substitute the changed name for MKSIM. 4 Make sure the Reconnect at Logon box is not enabled, and click OK. You may be prompted for a user ID and password to connect to the system. 5 From Windows Explorer, select and expand the drive you just mapped. 6 Double click dtbridge.exe and follow the installation wizard. The default installation directory is: C:/Program Files/MKS/Implementer/DTBridge You can change the destination directory during the install if required. To download and install DTBridge using FTP 1 At a command prompt, type FTP, and press ENTER. The ftp> prompt displays. 2 Type OPEN your_system_name, and press ENTER. A message confirms the connection is in progress, and a prompt displays requesting a user ID.
Export to Implementer 3 Specify a valid user ID for the system you opened in step 2, and press ENTER. A prompt displays requesting the password for the specified user ID. 4 Type the password, and press ENTER. 5 Type bin, and press ENTER. A message confirms the representation type is binary image. 6 Type quote site namefmt 1, and press ENTER. A message confirms that naming format 1 is enabled. 7 Type cd /mks/Implementer/MKSIM, and press ENTER. A message confirms the current directory changed, for example, /mks/Implementer/MKSIM. NOTE The default, product library name is MKSIM. If you changed the product library to another name, substitute the changed name for MKSIM. 8 Type lcd C:/temp, and press ENTER. A message confirms the local directory is C:/ temp. (You may need to create this directory if it does not exist.) 9 Type get dtbridge.exe, and press ENTER. The self-extracting installation executable transfers into directory C:/temp on your PC. 10 Type quit, and press ENTER. The C:/ prompt displays. 11 Type cd C:/temp, and press ENTER. 12 Type dtbridge.exe, and press ENTER. The default installation directory is: C:/Program Files/MKS/Implementer/DTBridge You can change the destination directory during the installation if required. 13 Follow the installation wizard to complete the installation. Configuring DTBridge Components and Properties This section explains how to configure the DTBridge components required for the Implementer and MKS Source integration described in this chapter, as well as the help desk integration described in “Help Desk Integration” on page 324. The setup involves: granting authority to an Implementer file defining DTBridge properties file The DTBridge properties file contains the application control parameters for several integrations. Based on the integration you are configuring, the applicable properties must be defined prior to using DTBridge. The export feature described in this chapter uses the DTSystemName, DTUser, and DTPassword properties to connect to the iSeries and perform the required processing on the iSeries system specified in the DTSystemName property.
