Basic Host: Scenario 1
Overview
Host System Scenarios
Each developer checks out to a personal environment, a project environment, a shared
development environment, or a personal library. The developer checks in directly to the
production environment. Contrast this scenario with the next scenario, which includes a test
environment.
Development Tasks
This is the typical task sequence from the start of a programming change to completion.
1 Check out. Developer checks out to a personal environment, project environment, or
shared development environment.
2 Develop and test. Developer codes, compiles, and tests programs.
3 Promote to production. Developer creates the promotion request.
Developer can compile the request into the work library as a separate task or when
creating the request.
User who has move capabilities moves the members/objects into production.
Setup Tasks
The setup tasks required for this scenario are as follows:
1 Create an Environment task. Define the following environments:
Production, one production environment.
Development, one development environment for all developers, or specific
environments per developer or project.
