Chapter 5: MKS Integrity Integration
220
Field Name Description
Time zone offset Specify the number of hours difference between this system and Greenwich
Mean Time (GMT). For example, a system located in Central Standard Time
(CST) has the offset value -6. Valid values are -12 through +12, or
*SYSVAL, which allows you to use the Coordinated Universal Time Offset
(QUTCOFFSET) system value.
The time zone offset is required for Implementer and MKS Integrity to be
relatively synchronized in time. For example, if Implementer is located in the
Central time zone and MKS Integrity is in the Eastern time zone, there is
one hour difference between the two servers. By defining the time zone
offset, a change package’s date and time fields are correctly represented in
the time zone where the server is located.
IMPORTANT You must restart Implementer Server to effect changes to the time
zone offset value.
Install and Configure Implementer Server on a PC
Implementer Server can run on a PC or an Integrated xSeries (IXS) running Windows 2000
Server, Windows 2003 Server, or Windows XP Professional. When installed on a PC,
Implementer Server runs as a service to ensure it starts automatically when the PC starts.
Implementer Server can run from any location except the desktop. The desktop is regarded as
a user’s private space, and as such, you should not run system processes and services from it.
MKS recommends you install it in a directory near the root, for example,
c:/Implementer_200x_Server.
IMPORTANT
MKS recommends you install the latest Database Group PTF, obtainable from
IBM, before running the Implementer Server on a PC.
When running Implementer Server as a service on a PC, you must manually
perform the tasks associated with installing and upgrading the server, and the
initial startup of the service.
After initially installing Implementer and after each subsequent upgrade, you
must manually copy the server directories to the PC and install the service.
The tasks associated with setting up Implementer Server to run on a PC or IXS are as follows:
Manually copy the server directory from the IFS installation location on the iSeries to the
target PC.
Configure the Implementer properties file with system-specific values.
Install the NT service.
