3 Associate the mode description with the communications subsystem. The default user
profile on the communications entry is the profile that all Implementer APPC jobs run
under. You can specify any user profile—a common entry is QUSER.
a) To display the device description to determine the current modes used by the
device, issue the following command:
DSPDEVD DEVD(APPC-device)
b) Change the APPC device description by issuing the following command:
CHGDEVAPPC DEVD(APPC-device)
MODE(existing-modes IMPMODD)
For example, the command for APPC device RMTDEV using mode BLANK, is:
CHGDEVAPPC DEVD(RMTDEV) MODE(BLANK IMPMODD)
Defining the Host for Remote Initiated Moves
You can configure remote environments set up for remote initiated moves to update the host
with request processing information. This feature requires an additional communications
entry on the host for the remote system to access with the update.
The default user profile on the communications entry is the profile that all Implementer

A variety of methods exist for defining the communications entry. The following instructions
work for most organizations; however, if you use other APPC programs or pass-through
sessions, MKS recommends you review the applicability of these instructions to your
installation.
To set up a host communication entry for remote initiated moves
Add a communications entry by issuing the following command:
ADDCMNE SBS(qcmn)
DEV(APPC-device)
JOBD(MKSIM/MWIJOBD)
DFTUSR(MWIPROD) MODE(*ANY)

communication as a method of communication between host and remote iSeries systems.
This technology is available for both FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and tape distribution.
