To add or change a system in Network Configuration
1 From the Implementer Menu, type option 46, or type STRIM *NETCFG at the command
line and press ENTER. The Network Configuration Maintenance panel displays.
2 To create a new system, press F6=Add, or to create a system by copying an existing
system, type 3 in the Opt field and press ENTER. To change an existing system, select the
system with option 2=Change and press ENTER.
3 Specify the following fields:
In the System field, type the name of the remote system to distribute to. This field
allows entry only when initially creating the system.
In the Description field, type a system description.
In the Target Release field, specify if the remote system is at an older release of the
operating system than the host system. Specify *CURRENT, *PRV, or the actual
version name.
4 Complete the remaining fields based on the distribution method (SNA or TCP/IP) as
described in the following sections.
NOTE The second and third Network Configuration Maintenance panels are for
SNA distribution. If you intend to use both TCP/IP and SNA communications with
this system, complete both the SNA and TCP/IP fields as required; otherwise leave
one or the other blank.
To configure Network Configuration for SNA distribution
1 Follow the previous steps to create or change the system.
2 On the second Network Configuration Maintenance panel, define the information as
needed. The following steps describe where to find the necessary information:
To determine the system name on the remote system, use the Display Network
Attributes (DSPNETA) command.
To determine the description of the device used to communicate with the remote, on
the host system use the Display Device Description (DSPDEVD) command for:
remote location name
local location name
mode
remote network identifier
