Web-based Development for IFS Objects
When used on a single system, the storage defined by the IASP can be activated and
deactivated within a job; however, only one primary ASP can be active at a time. If a job
switches from one IASP to another, the libraries that reside in the first IASP are no longer
available. When used on multiple systems, the storage defined by the IASP can be accessed
by all systems simultaneously, as if it was local.
Implementer moves objects between IASPs similar to how it moves objects between standard
ASPs. Although IASPs support multiple libraries with the same name in different IASPs,
Implementer associates a named ASP device with the environment.
Key Considerations
This feature requires OS/400 V5R2 or later.
Implementer on the host system and Implementer Receiver on a remote system must be
in a normal system ASP, for example, ASP 1–32), to ensure each is available regardless of
which IASP is active.
The IASP that Implementer moves objects to or from must be active when each process
starts. Use the VRYCFG command to start or end an IASP. Implementer does not
manage, start, or end IASPs.
When moving objects, all activity occurs to and from a single IASP. Implementer does
not support moving objects from one IASP to another IASP.
Before checking out or promoting to or from an IASP environment, you must issue the
Set ASP Group (SETASPGRP) command. If your shop is already working with IASPs,
this is likely already configured, for example, as part of the daily system startup routine
or handled through a job scheduler (the administrator can confirm this).
The SETASPGRP command syntax is as follows:
SETASPGRP ASPGRP(xxxxxxx)
Where xxxxxxx is the name of the ASP group.
Web-based Development for IFS Objects
Implementer allows you to efficiently manage the software changes of all objects that reside
on the iSeries system. This includes support for the development of your client/server and
e-Business applications, as well as the check out and promotion deployment of IFS objects
using a Web browser interface.
This browser-based integration is built on the existing proven framework of Implementer
technology and includes the latest support for IBM HTTP Web servers: the original Web
Server for iSeries and the Apache Web Server for iSeries. It also supports using MKS Integrity
issues or DesignTracker DRs when performing the change management functions.
