Object Version Stamping
For inquiry, use the Display Object Description (DSPOBJD) command to view the APAR ID
attribute. In addition, you can display an object’s revision number in the Revision field on the
Workbench (F11=Display Revision) and Work with Objects (F10=Display Revision) panels.
NOTE
Due to IFS constraints, Implementer cannot stamp version numbers directly to
IFS objects. However, for inquiry and reporting through Implementer, the
information is available in the repository.
Implementer disregards source-only objects during version number processing.
The build does not stamp actual objects—only development activity does this.
To set up object version stamping
Versioning Methods
1 From the Implementer Menu, type option 45, System Control, and press ENTER. The
System Control Maintenance panel displays.
2 Press PAGE DOWN three times.
3 In the Activate object version stamping field, type Y to activate the feature. For more
information on this field, “Activate object version stamping” on page 70.
4 In the Assign native version number at field, specify the versioning method as follows:
1 = checkout only. For details on this method, see “Method 1: Assign Version in
Check Out” on page 148.
2 = checkout and promotion to production environments. For details on this
method, see “Method 2: Assign Version in Check Out and Promotion” on page 148.
3 = user defined. For details on this method, see “Method 3: User-Defined Version”
on page 149.
5 Press ENTER to process the change.
Implementer supports three native versioning methods. The first two methods are defined in
Implementer; the third method allows you to implement your own user-defined routine.
NOTE If you have MKS Source integration enabled, then the native revision number
scheme applies only to objects and items not archived in MKS Source. The version
number is assigned during promotion to the first *QAC environment enabled for
MKS Source archiving. If MKS Source integration is not enabled, then the native
revision number scheme applies to all items.
