Issue or Design Request Stamping
To view the example PDM options, set the Option file on the Change Defaults panel as
follows:
Option File IMPDMOPT
Library MKSIM
Member IMPDMOPT
2 Press ENTER.
3 Press F16=User options to view the Implementer options interface.
Sample PDM options for the check out and create request functions are included. The
default option names are CO (check out) and CR (create request). You can name the
user-defined options as needed when adding them directly to your PDM options file.
These options use the ICHKOUT and ICRTRQS commands respectively.
TIP Many customers use the CO option to check out individual members in PDM,
but use the Create Request menu option because it is easier to select objects.
Common Questions
Can you copy PDM options from IMOPT directly into a PDM options file with the Copy File (CPYF)
command?
No. PDM does not properly order your options in the options file when you do this. You
must manually add them into your standard PDM options file.
Issue or Design Request Stamping
Implementer allows you to stamp objects with the issue or design request number the object
was checked out for. This provides an audit trail that ties each object change back to the issue
or DR that requested the change. With similar information available in the corresponding
issue or DR, you have a complete circle of cross-references and auditable information for
every software change.
To ensure the stamping of both new and existing objects, the process automatically occurs in
the three functions that support object creation: check out, compiling from the Workbench,
and promotion. During these development stages, Implementer updates the description of
the object by recording the issue or DR number in the PTF Number attribute. If multiple locks
exist with multiple issues or DRs, the object is stamped with the primary number associated
with the initial lock. For inquiry, use the Display Object Description (DSPOBJD) command to
view the PTF Number attribute.
