Object Name Rules
4 Select an object code with option 7=Work with Object Name Rules, and press ENTER. The
Work with Object Name Rules panel displays.
Use option 2 to edit an existing rule.
Use option 3 to copy a rule.
Use option 4 to delete a rule.
Use option 5 to view rule details.
The Environment, Object Code, and Mask fields display in the upper-left section of the
panel. The mask defines which rules apply to each section of the object name. Creating a
name rule automatically creates a mask. The mask is defined in lower-case letters. Each
letter within the mask name corresponds to a set of rules based on position as follows:
If more than one rule exists for a specific position, each rule must have a unique
sequence number.
Any rules after the first rule for a position must have *AND or *OR specified in the
And/Or field to indicate a Boolean condition.
Overlapping rules is not allowed. Overlapping a new rule with an existing rule
(based on position and length) causes an error message.
Each time you modify a rule, the Mask field updates to reflect the fields added or
removed from the rule set.
Deleting the first rule for a position (And/Or = BLANK) deletes all rules for that
position. Deleting any other rule (And/Or < > BLANK) only deletes that rule. If the
Comparison field value is *CALL, the program calls your external user exit program
with the required parameters.
