Chapter 1: Introduction About This Guide 2 The person responsible for setting up Implementer is referred to as the administrator throughout this guide. This guide provides the administrator with all the information needed to configure and maintain Implementer. The guide also provides information on configuring and maintaining the Implementer Receiver. NOTE For information on installing or upgrading Implementer, see the MKS Implementer 2006 Installation Guide. The guide is organized as follows: Chapter 2: “Understanding Implementer” on page 9 Explains important things you need to know and consider before setting up and configuring Implementer. Describes an overview of the change management process in a multi-platform environment. Chapter 3: “Implementer Administration” on page 63 Explains how to configure the Implementer host system to suit the development activities of your organization. Explains important information related to Implementer when making changes to the operating system or other system related changes. Chapter 4: “Remote Distribution Concepts and Setup” on page 161 Explains the role of the Implementer Receiver and the various distribution options and concepts. Explains how to set up communications within Implementer to distribute software to remote iSeries systems. Chapter 5: “MKS Integrity Integration” on page 195 Describes the integration between Implementer and MKS Integrity that provides an enterprise-wide solution for tracking issues correlated with Implementer managed development. Explains how to set up the integration and convert from DesignTracker to MKS Integrity. Additionally describes the Implementer and MKS Source integration, an export feature that enables client-based software changes initiated by an MKS Integrity issue and modified under MKS Source control, to be checked out and optionally deployed to an IFS location under Implementer change management control. Chapter 6: “Third Party Integrations” on page 303 Explains special setup considerations for organizations that use any of the third party integrations supported by Implementer, such as Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE), utility, application, cross-referencing, communications, and other tools. Chapter 7: “Administrative Utilities” on page 371 Explains the various utilities and tools Implementer provides to assist with setting up and using the product, and maintaining the integrity of your Implementer environments.

Chapter : “Converting DesignTracker Data to MKS Integrity” on page 431 Describes how to convert DesignTracker data to MKS Integrity issues. This chapter is for customers who are converting to MKS Integrity for issue management (as described in Chapter 5) and have a requirement to convert existing DesignTracker data. Appendix D: “Glossary” on page 457 Defines common terms related to Implementer and the MKS Integrity integration.
