Chapter 3: Implementer Administration
126
When using environment groups for promotion, AS/SET information is promoted only
to the environments defined as AS/SET environments.
To minimize potential errors with promoting to incorrect environments, you cannot
modify an environment group using the Target Environments function in Create
Request, Compile Request, Move Request, or Request Maintenance.
If you use MKS Source archiving, when a promotion targets an environment group that
has both local and remote environments, only the local environment has the revision
update (you cannot archive remote environments in MKS Source). If you later promote
the items to a group, either QA environments further on the path or production, both the
host and remote repository entries for the items reference the associated revision IDs.
To create or change an environment group
1 From the Implementer Menu, type option 43, or type STRIM (*WRKENVGRP) on the
command line and press ENTER. The Work with Environment Groups selection panel
displays.
2 Do one of the following:
To add an environment group, press F6=Add.
To copy an existing environment group, type 3 in the Opt field and press ENTER.
To change an environment group, type 2 in the Opt field and press ENTER.
3 On the Work with Environment Groups detail panel, complete the following fields:
In the Environment group field, type the group name. The value must begin with an
asterisk (*) and include a description.
In the Opt field, type 1 to select the environments to include.
For each selected environment, in the Seq field type the sequence for promotion.
The primary environment must be sequence 1. Additional environments must have
a sequence greater than 1.
In the Cmp field, specify Y or N to indicate whether to compile for this environment.
4 Press ENTER. The Work with Environment Groups selection panel displays.
TIP To work with an environment, press F20 to display the Work with
Environments panel.
Common Questions
