Environments and User Capabilities
Change User Environment Capabilities Field Descriptions: Panel 1
Field Description
Allow concurrent dev Specify if the user has authority to perform concurrent development and
check out a member/object from this environment when the item is checked
out by another user. b,c Does not apply to emergency check out or promotion.
1=No: User does not have authority to perform concurrent development.
2=Seq Only: User has authority to perform concurrent development only
for items under sequential development. User is not allowed to override
the default copy From environment in check out.
3=All-Auto: User has authority to perform concurrent development and
override the copy From environment in check out. In sequential
development, the copy From environment value defaults automatically. In
non sequential development, user must manually select the copy From
environment. This is the default value when Implementer is installed.
4=All-Manual: User has authority to perform concurrent development and
select the copy From environment in check out. In both sequential and non
sequential development, the copy From environment defaults to blank and
user must select it manually.
Resolve conflicts Specify if the user has authority to resolve concurrent development conflicts
on the Manage Concurrent Development - Work with Conflict Resolution
panel. b,c
For a production environment, applies to resolving conflicts for locks from the
environment. For a development or test environment, applies to resolving
conflicts for locks to the environment. Does not apply to emergency
promotion.
1=No: User does not have authority to resolve conflicts.
2=Seq Only: User has authority to resolve conflicts only for items under
sequential development (allows automatic conflict resolution).
3=All-Auto: User has authority to resolve conflicts. In sequential
development, conflicts resolve automatically. In non sequential
development, user must resolve conflicts manually. This is the default
value when Implementer is installed.
4=All-Manual: User has authority to resolve conflicts. In both sequential
and non sequential development, user must resolve conflicts manually.
Lock maintenance Specify if the user has authority to maintain or delete locks on the
Workbench. A project leader or another user that has move capabilities
generally performs this function.
a Emergency check out of a locked member/object causes concurrent development that requires users
have authority to perform concurrent development for the From environment. In the case of an
emergency, however, the authorities required to perform emergency check out override the authorities
required to perform concurrent development. This allows a user who does not have authority to
concurrent development to perform an emergency check out.
b When using the Implementer Web interface for check out and promotion, the values 3=All-Auto and
4=All-Manual function like the value 2=Seq Only. This is because the Web interface does not allow the
manual entry of a copy From environment.
c For details on how concurrent development is globally activated, see “Concurrent Development Scope”
on page 71. For a description of sequential and non sequential development, see “Glossary” on
page 457. For details on how the default copy From environment is determined, see the
MKS Implementer 2006 User Guide.
