Chapter 3: Implementer Administration
Removing Source and Objects After Promotion
Implementer allows you to control how source and objects are handled in the From
environment by allowing you to retain or automatically delete the items after successful
promotion from a local *TST or *QAC environment.
This feature is controlled by the defaults you establish for the environment and the
environment’s object code overrides as defined in the fields Remove obj in from lib/env and
Remove src in from lib/env as follows:
Option 1=always automatically deletes objects and/or source.
Option 2=never automatically retains objects and/or source.
Option 3=per obj code validates to the environment’s object code overrides. An override
is validated only if the promotion request is defined to delete objects per object code.
When you create a promotion request, the Remove fields on the request default to the values
defined for the same fields as the From environment. When promoting from a library, the
Remove fields on the request are set to the default values defined for the user profile creating
the request as follows:
If the user profile Remove fields are set to Y, then the Remove fields on the request
default to 1 (always).
If the user profile Remove fields are set to N, then the Remove fields on the request
default to 2 (never).
The value 3 (per object code) is not allowed when promoting from a library.
You must have authority to perform overrides to change the request defaults. For details on
user profile defaults and overrides, see the table on page 78.
NOTE
The global object code values are only used to supply the initial defaults when
creating new object code overrides for an environment.
Implementer does not delete from *PRD or remote environments. For details on
how to delete items from a remote QA environment after successful promotion
from the environment. For details, see “Clearing Remote QA Environments” on
page 384.
To define object code overrides for an environment
1 From the Change Environment panel or Create Environment panel, press F8=Object
Codes. The Change Environment Object Code Overrides panel displays.
2 Press F7=Fold to toggle the view to include the object code description.
NOTE For details on option 7=Work with Object Name Rules, see “Object Name
Rules” on page 137.
