Chapter 3: Implementer Administration
90
Field Description
Compile location Specify where to compile for this environment.
L: Compile on local system.
R: Compile on remote system.
Distribution method Specify the distribution method when deploying to the remote system.
1=SNADS (SNA Distribution Services).
2=Tape.
3=DVD (release management environments only; for details, see the
MKS Implementer 2006 Release Management Guide).
4=SDMCom.
7=TCP/IP-FTP (default value when creating a new environment).
8=TCP/IP-Tape.
NOTE TCP/IP-FTP is for bulk file transfers. TCP/IP-Tape is for distribution on
tape media. Both options allow you to use the “Remote Initiated Move Update
Host” functionality. To alternate between TCP/IP and SNADS distributions,
change the value in this field as needed.
If you use SNA or TCP/IP to distribute to remote systems, additional setup is
required. For details, see “Setting Up for SNADS Distribution” on page 179, or
“Setting Up for TCP/IP Distribution” on page 173.
Remote initiated move Specify whether to initiate the move step on the host system or the remote
system. Allows users on a remote system to control when to move a
request into this environment and allows initiating the move on the remote.
Y: Initiates the move on the remote system by a remote user.
N: Initiates the move on the host system by a host user.
Updates host Specify whether to update the host with remote initiated move information
that includes: request header status, request detail status and information,
archive information, and job log. Sets the request status to complete after
request distribution.
Y: Updates the host with the remote move data. Requires the Remote
initiated move field set to Y.
N: Bypasses the host update.
Retain requests on
remote
Create Environment Field Descriptions: Panel 3
NOTE If you use MKS Source archiving and promote using remote initiated
moves with host updates, the MWIPROD user profile must have an
MKS Integrity user ID that is part of the group to ensure it is
configured to work with MKS Source. For details, see “Creating the Implementer
Developer Group” on page 264.
Specify whether to retain requests on the remote system after promotions
complete successfully.
Y: Retains requests on remote system.
N: Deletes requests on remote system. This is the default value.
