In the little town of Kumba, Cameroon, there have been no convictions in spousal abuse cases for 17 years. But two women determined to change their community are making progress that could change the world. This fascinating, often hilarious doc follows the work of State Prosecutor Vera Ngassa and Court President Beatrice Ntuba as they help women fight often-difficult cases of abuse, despite pressures from family and their community to remain silent. Six-year-old Manka is covered in scars and has run away from an abusive aunt, Amina is seeking a divorce to put an end to brutal beatings by her husband, the pre-teen Sonita has daringly accused her neighbor of rape. With fierce compassion, the two feisty and progressive-minded women dispense wisdom, wisecracks and justice in fair measure, handing down stiff sentences to those convicted. A cross between “Judge Judy” and “The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency,” SISTERS IN LAW has audiences cheering when justice is served. 104’ 104’

Director: Lizzie Gottlieb reJisori: lizi goTlibi TODAY’S MAN USA 2006 Today’s Man is a sister’s search to understand her brother’s mysterious inner life. Nicky Gottlieb was a child of extraordinary talents and odd behavior. At 21 he is diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome - a high functioning form of Autism. Nicky has no ability to read social cues, or to read the emotion on faces, and so he begins to “memorize” appropriate behavior in a brave attempt to fit in to the “normal” world. The film follows Nicky as he struggles to leave the safety of his family’s home and the comfort of his favorite TV shows in order to find a job and a place in the world. Made by Nicky’s sister, Today’s Man is both a personal and family drama, a deep exploration of a fascinating, perplexing disorder. But it is Nicky himself that is the heart of the film. He is full of enthusiasm, wonderful revelations, and startling insights. 55’ 55’ 69
