When three forty-something-year-old siblings in Istanbul receive a call one night that their ageing
mother has disappeared from her home on the Western Black Sea Coast of Turkey, the three
set out to find her, momentarily setting aside their problems. As the siblings come together, the
tensions between them quickly become apparent, like Pandora’s box spilling open. They come to
realize that they know very little about each other. And even more so, they are forced to reflect on
their own shortcomings.

Born in Sarikamis, Turkey, in 1960. She worked for a number of years as
an architect, designer, and restoration expert, using her income to finance
several short films that went on to receive critical acclaim. Her début feature,
The Track (1994) screened at numerous international festivals, and her next
film, Journey to the Sun (1999) brought her international recognition and
success. Pandora’s Box (2008) is her fourth feature film.
