Our sales department has a strong and united team, under the careful supervision of Mr. Emilio Becker, within which we complete each other so as to successfully cope with the unpredicted situations arising in the difficult process of selling. My activity as Industrial Sales Coordinator implies the following: establishing the marketing strategies, developing and maintaining the relationships with the customers; attracting new customers; collecting market information about the products and the activity of the competi- We know that the difference between a company and a successful company is given by the quality of services. This is why we decided to segregate the operational and sales activities as of 2011, so as to enable a better focus on each of them. The sales force, which was activating on several distribution channels, is now 100% dedicated to each channel. interview with Claudiu ivan, Veterinarian at BACOVA Farm: „Investment in continuous development always brings major benefits“ How is a day of your life, as a veterinarian at BACOVA? I have worked for the company for more than two years and as a farm veterinarian since December 2nd, 2008. Every day begins with setting the activities for the respective day on the two farm sectors (nursery and gestation). Later, throughout the day, depending on the situations and problems, I try to find a solution in the shortest time possible and with the best results. You are the veterinarian of one of the biggest Smithfield-owned farms. What does that mean to you? The possibility to work in one of the biggest Smithfield-owned farms brings me first of all the satisfaction of practicing in the field chosen, while also enabling a professional development. How easy/difficult is it to be a veterinarian? Practicing this profession is not always easy, but it cannot be difficult either, if you are passionate about your work. The most frequent problems we face at the farm are the taking of the most efficient decisions from a qualitative and economic point of view regarding the treatments to be followed. What measures should be taken so that the sector of activity would develop? Throughout my two years of activity, I had many memorable moments, one of them being my recent appointment as a veterinarian for a second farm, which for me is a recognition of my work within the company. After graduating, getting a job in a farm with intensive animal growing system, of which I did not know much, was a great challenge for me and is currently my biggest professional achievement. How do you manage to create an optimum working environment for each and every employee? I work with 3 employees, of which only one has specialized educational background, while the other two have to learn the sanitary-veterinary maneuvers and techniques within the farm; and I have to admit that they are handling this quite well. In order to create an optimum working environment, I always set clear tasks and provide them with technical support in achieving these tasks. What kind of relationship do you have with the employees? My relationship with all the employees is a professional one, but for any personal problem they face and which is reflected in their activity I am open to a discussion and I always try to support them. What are the benefits of a BACOVA Farm employee? Every employee within the farm has the opportunity to improve their knowledge and practices in their field of activity, to work in a young and ambitious team with relationships based on efficient communication. What are your hobbies? I enjoy travelling a lot and I grow pigeons in my spare time. What are your plans for the future? In the future, I want to evolve in my professional career as much as possible. 9
