Give anime club a try

Looking for a new club to join? Want a place to
talk about all things Anime? Then head on over
to the Anime Club.
Every Thursday after school in room 48 the
Anime Club meets to discuss Japanese cartoons
(Anime) and Japanese comics (Manga).
They plan events based on Anime, such as going
to AnimeIowa, which is a convention in Iowa
that is for all the Anime lovers in the area.
When the club isn’t going to AnimeIowa, they
play a game called Ninja, which involves striking
ninja poses until you hit someone’s hand.
Teacher Lori Zosilus allows the club to use her
room when they need it to host the 20 students
who usually attend the meetings.
The club is lead by junior Dakota Demery and
senior Hunter Hansen.
They took over after the original founders,
Ayla Peet and Angel Peet left.
Since then, the club has been enriching the
lives of those involved.
“We can’t get through a meeting without
bursting into laughter at least once,” said Demery.
The Anime club offers a place for people to
fit in, meet new friends and to open up about
their lives.
While the club isn’t studying Anime, playing
games or talking to others who love Anime,
they are helping out the community.

the summer,” said Demery, “and we hope to do
a food drive sometime too.”
This club expands the views of those who participate
in it, but that’s not the best part.
“The best part of the club is seeing people who
are quiet and shy opening up,” said Demery.
So for those who want to expand their horizons,
join Anime Club.
It’s the secret club of the school, but a great
club to get involved in.
