preparations she had made for her expected baby. She
indicated she was going to keep this one and that the Local
Authority had taken her previous children illegally. She
refused to cooperate in any discussions about the child
protection concerns in relation to her expected baby.
Simon continued to deny that he was Simon Doe and Tina
asked the social workers to leave and proceeded to call 999
reporting that she had trespassers in her home who were
trying to take her baby.
28.04.06 Home visit Mr and Mrs Green refuse workers entry. They
tear up the letter detailing the plans for the new baby. They
eventually accept another copy but object to every point.
01.05.06 George Green born at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Hospital staff observe Tina to shout ‘shut up’ at the baby who
appeared unsettled. Simon was present but did not
intervene. During the 4 days Tina was in hospital the staff
were concerned about her level of frustration and agitation
and her rough handling of George.
05.05.06 Angela Jakes Tina’s sister requests to be assessed as a
carer for George but later withdraws her request.
09.05.06 George is made subject to an Interim Care Order and placed
in foster care. Adopters of Jean feel they are too old to
consider taking another child.
16.03.08 George moves to live with adopters, Adoption Order granted
on the 23.10.07.
13.08.07 Department is informed Mrs Green is pregnant with a due
date of March 26 th 2008.
14.08.07 Home visit to Mr and Mrs Green to discuss pregnancy and
child protection concerns. Couple refuse to discuss the
issue.
22.01.08 Legal planning meeting decision to seek further
Psychological assessment from Julie Jamison and to seek
Interim Care Order on the expected child.
14.02.08 Pre birth conference decision taken to make expected child
subject to a Child Protection Plan at birth and to make an
application for a Care Order to secure the unborn baby’s
safety.
27.02.08 Psychological assessment concluded although she had
identified some positive changes in Mr and Mrs Green she
stated that the risk of placing a child in their care would be
high. Her reasons were parent’s failure to fully recognise the
limits of their parenting ability and their difficulty in accepting
professional advice. She also stated that it would be
