curious eye, taking care to increafe them with your<br />

own excellent additions. Among the vaft compafs of<br />

your father's learning, and his more ferious ftudies, he<br />

fometimes defcended to things of lefs moment, and<br />

'wrote, at the inftance of the great Chriftianus Caffius<br />

(whofe memory will be alway grateful to me), a fhort<br />

differtation, colleEted from antiquity, of the medicinal<br />
