Welcome to
Zuchthof Klatte
Performance sires from Klein-Roscharden
Alongside the breeding achievements of previous years, which is due
in no small part to our many loyal breeders over the generations, there
were further outstanding successes to celebrate once again in 2011.
There were victories from offspring of our stallions, as well as top-class
successes from the sires themselves, not to mention the title of German
junior showjumping champion for Guido Klatte Jr and Armitage,
and the silver medal for Farewell III and Markus Gribbe in the German
championship for professional riders.
The high standards that we set ourselves, the readiness to innovate,
the desire to constantly improve and the strict criteria when selecting
our performance sires have all determined the breeder’s mentality of
the Klatte family for many decades. As such, we promise you that in
Klein Roscharden in 2012 we will not only provide stallions for you from
the latest bloodlines, we also assure you that it is our top priority to
continue to support you in the marketing of your horses with advice
and initiatives, such as the internationally established ESI auction!
We always look forward to hearing from you or seeing you at Zuchthof
Armitage
dark chestnut · 16.3 hands · born 1998 · chilled and frozen semen
insemintaion fee 1,500 EUR
His fi rst offspring are now showing up in the World Ranking List and Armitage himself
carried Guido Klatte Junior to win the German Champion title in August 2011: Armitage
represents exactly what has been most successfully implemented at Zuchthof Klatte: Top
sport and top breeding are not just good intentions but a living success model. This athletic
Argentinus son has an ideal gene constellation with Grannus, Inschallah and Furioso
II. Offspring such as Appearance, who placed second in the Youngster Cup in Aachen with
Marcus Ehning, and Grace, ridden by Marco Kutscher, are now successful on international
courses. Armitages Boy won the Gucci Masters Grand Prix in Paris under Aymeric de Ponat
(FRA). Even though his fi rst crops were relatively small, there are 19 successful sport horses
in Germany that are at least seven years old and six of these – almost exactly one-third
– have won ribbons in advanced (S) level classes! You couldn‘t have stronger testimony in
regard to his qualities as a sire than this, especially since a fourth son was licensed in the
fall of 2011. Armitage was also awarded the coveted VTV Jumper Stallion of the Year prize.
Licensed for Oldenburg, O.S.I., Hanover, Westphalia, Rhineland, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, all southern German
associations, Belgium, Sweden, Poland, Austria, Italy and France.
Chlodwig
dark bay · 16.2 hands · born 2009 · chilled semen
insemination fee 500 EUR
A simply awesome jumper and strong in type, Chlodwig has everything that a modern sire
should have. The great lines in international show jumping are brought together through Calido,
Quattro B and Grannus: Cor de la Bryère twice and Ramiro twice (through Calido), Almé and
Goldfi sch II. And to put the icing on the cake, there‘s a successful Thoroughbred line that goes
back to Unschuld xx who was stationed in 1927 at Gestüt Röttgen, one of Germany‘s traditional
Thoroughbred stud farms. This line produced sires for Warmblood breeding such as Ultimo
xx, who was stationed in Klein Roscharden, as well as Usurpator xx and Usuri xx. Usuri xx is
found in the pedigree of Chacco Blue, who took third place in the Grand Prix of Aachen in 2011.
His sire Calido, probably the most infl uential son of the great Cantus, has a son who is a likely
candidate for the next Olympic Games – the triple German Champion, Coupe de Coeur, who
also took fi fth place in the 2011 EC in Madrid. Calido is also the sire of two champion stallions.
Quattro competed in show jumping up to advanced level and founded a stallion line of his own.
His offspring in Germany have won more than 900,000 Euros. Klein Roscharden‘s trademark
stallion Grannus shows up in the third generation through a half Thoroughbred daughter who
was also successful in sport. The look of a Thoroughbred and the power and ability of Calido
at his best: Chlodwig!
Collado
dark bay · 16.2 hands · born 2004 · chilled and frozen semen
insemination fee 700 EUR
A fantastic Holstein pedigree with Cassini I-Landgraf-Cor de la Bryere kept its promise.
Even as a young stallion, Collado proved this by his record in sport. In 2011 at the age of
seven, this beautiful bay stallion won his fi rst ribbons in advanced (S) level classes. Not
only that – he and Guido Klatte Junior led the honor round that same year as the winner of
an advanced (S) level show jumping test in the Weser-Ems-Halle. At the „summit meeting“
for young German show jumpers, the Salut Festival in Aachen, the pair fi nished second in
the opening test. So the main premium winner of the Oldenburg licensing has now arrived
in upper level sport! He is also well established in breeding, due to the fact that he passes
on his type, movements and talent for jumping as well as a nicely set neck and a beautiful
face. In 2011 his second son was licensed. Collado‘s ability to jump and his rideability were
already quite obvious when he took his stallion performance test as a youngster. And it
is just these qualities that guarantee the marketability of his foals today. Especially when
they come with a most modern styling and a Holstein look.
Licensed for Oldenburg, O.S.I., Westphalia, Rhineland, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and all southern German associations.
Cooper
bay · 16.3 hands · born 2004 · chilled semen
insemination fee 900 EUR
This stallion has everything that a modern sire must have: A fi rst rate pedigree, an outstanding
dam line and a performance record in sport as well as breeding that is exemplary. Until his
death in 2011 at the age of 28, Cooper‘s sire Caretino was one of the top stallions in Holstein. His
son Casall la Silla won two Global Champions Tour events in 2011 and he catapulted his rider, Rolf
Göran Bengtsson (SWE), to the pole position in the World Ranking List. As a sire, he repeatedly
had the most expensive sons at the licensings in Holstein. Cooper‘s dam Erle produced four
licensed sons, including Quinault, who is internationally successful under Noora Forstén (NOR),
and Cezaro. Erle‘s dam‘s sire, Landlord, is the sire of the winner of the 1998 WEG, Lianos/Rodrigo
Pessoa (BRA). Holstein dam line 504 is one of the oldest and most successful families in Holstein
breeding (producing, e.g. Operette la Silla/Jan Tops, Candy/Alois Pollmann-Schweckhorst
and the stallions Literat, Lantaan, Clintino). Cooper was a Belgian Champion Stallion and highly
successful in many tests for youngsters. His progeny are equally distinguished by their ability
to jump as well as their movements! Two licensed sons underline his quality as a sire and being
a direct descendant of Caretin makes him even more valuable.
Cornet´s Prinz
bay · 16.2 hands · born 2005 · chilled and frozen semen
insemination fee 800 EUR
Expectations were high when Cornet‘s Prinz‘ fi rst crop was up for licensing in 2011 – his foals had
been most convincing when they were born. Three of his sons from his fi rst crop were licensed,
one by the OS Verband, the other two in Mecklenburg. In Mecklenburg, Cornet’s Bavarian, who
has abundant talent and was bred by Gisela Klatte, was awarded a premium. He will be stationed
in Malching at the Holzeder Station. This success shows how right the decision of the Oldenburg
licensing committee was, after inspecting his fi rst crop, to award the main premium to him,
even though he did have strong competitors! His sire, Cornet Obolensky, was back in sport in
2011. Marco Kutscher rode spectacular rounds with him at the EC for show jumpers in Madrid
where they took the European Champion team title and eleventh place individually. He is also
deemed a candidate for the 2012 Olympics. After winning tests for young show jumpers and
qualifying for the Bundeschampionat, Cornet‘s Prinz stands out among his nearly 60 licensed
sons. His pedigree is marked by four generations of stallions who are either sires of horses
that have participated in the Olympic Games or have competed in Olympic Games themselves.
That‘s what you call performance breeding!
Dr. Doolittle
black · 16.2 hands · born 1999 · chilled and frozen semen
insemination fee 1,000 EUR
The year 2011 began with a roll of drums when Dr. Doolittle‘s son Del Campo took the Reserve
Champion title at the Southern German Hengsttage and then sold for 150,000 Euros,
the highest price, at the auction. At the end of the year as well, another son of our black
Dr. Doolittle, who wins ribbons up to Grand Prix with Markus Gribbe, caught the attention
of dressage experts at the Oldenburg licensing. This Dr. Doolittle son was sold for 210,000
Euros to Ammerland. For many experts he was one of the most striking dressage stallions
at the licensing. Dr. Doolittle‘s fi rst progeny are now placing in advanced (S) level tests,
placed in the 2011 Bundeschampionat and participated in the WC for young dressage horses.
The combination of the great Donnerhall and the distinguished Lauries Crusador xx
simply has everything a dressage rider could possibly want – dynamic movements, type,
the right attitude and an absolutely superior walk. This is also emphasized by his high predicted
breeding value of 130 points and a reliability of 92 percent which puts Dr. Doolittle
in the top ten percent of the best dressage stallions in Germany.
Farewell III
dark bay · 17.0 hands · born 2000 · chilled and frozen semen
insemination fee 1,000 EUR
Very few stallions are lucky enough to stay in the headlines year for year and get better each
year too. No matter how old he was – Farewell III was always one of the best in sport, as a
Bundeschampion, best breeding stallion in the Nürnberg Burgpokal or, in 2011, in the Grand Prix
Final of the German Championships for Professional Riders in Hagen a.T.W. with Markus Gribbe in
the saddle, he has won fi fteen fi rst places in advanced level up to Grand Prix. Farewell III is now
ready to take the place of his grandsire who died in January 2012, the epoch-making Florestan
I. His dam line, one of the best in Westphalia and the origin of a fi rst class auction horse named
Licosto and the World Champion of young horses, Laurentianer, underlines the signifi cance
of this good-sized sire in breeding. Along with State Premium mares – Donna Bella ranked in
the Oldenburg Brillantring in 2011 – and now fi ve licensed sons, his eldest in sport were seven
years old in 2011. The fi rst crop of this Fidermark son, which was rather small, produced the
highly talented Four Ever, who places in advanced (S) level classes for the Balkenhol stables. An
outstanding walk, high rideability and a sweet disposition are the outstanding traits passed on
by Farewell III. International demand for the offspring of this Grand Prix winner proves just how
high these qualities are esteemed.
shipping semen: 400 EUR per straw (2 straws min. per order)
Zuchthof Klatte is able to present the current Sire of the World in Germany: Hunter‘ s Scendix,
who will be seen in 2012 under the Olympic winner, Eric Lamaze. For a very long time now, his
sire Stakkato , a former Bundeschampion and two-time German Champion, (37th in the 2011
Stallion World Ranking List), has been the undisputed number one in Germany according to
the predicted breeding value statistics for jumper stallions. His children as well as his grandchildren
are also highly successful at the Bundeschampionat. In the last few years especially,
his offspring are found more and more often at center stage, internationally as well: With his
victory in the „Sires of the World“ competition, the World Championships for breeding stallions
in Zangersheide, Hunter’s Scendix joined the fi rst row of „international“ Stakkatos in 2011. When
he was just fi ve years old, he took bronze at the WC for young show jumpers. It won‘t be long
now until he‘s a match for Satisfaction I, Ukato or Souvenir, half-siblings on his sire‘s side, on
international courses. Through Dinar by Disput and the Pik As xx son Pikoer, Scendix comes
from a very solid Hanoverian dam line that produced many advanced (S) level show jumpers.
His fi rst son was licensed by Stud Book Zangersheide. At the Swiss Breed Classics, free jumping
The great Contender is the grandsire of Vittorio‘ sire, Hidden Creek Calippo by Concerto II.
Concerto II, who ranked 79th in the World Ranking List of Jumper Sires in 2011 and has the eleventh
best predicted breeding value for jumping according to the 2011 German FN‘s predicted
breeding value statistics, is in bred over Cor de la Bryère. In the German sport scene, he is best
known for Calle Cool (life time earnings: more than 170,000 Euros). His son Cassiato competes
in upper level sport for Australia. Vittorio‘s sire Calippo competed fi rst under Dirk Schröder
and later won many important competitions in North America under Margie Goldstein-Engle,
the most successful American woman rider in a jumping saddle. The dam‘s sire Martell xx won
ribbons in advanced (S) level show jumping under the Dutch master rider, Emile Hendrix, and
is licensed by KWPN, Holstein and Hanover. His few offspring in Germany have won more than
100,000 Euros so far! The granddam Beauty is by Latus II, a Landgraf son bred directly out of
Capitol‘s dam Folia. Through Cantares, Cor de la Bryère is found a third time. Vittorio is an
elegant, highly refi ned stallion with elastic movements, lightning fast front legs at the jump
and a great bascule. He has placed internationally. His dam line is also the origin of Leoville/
Vivant
bay · 16.7 hands · born 1998 · frozen semen
Vivant is one of the 50 best stallions in international show jumping, a top horse worldwide
in 2010 with his Australian rider, Chris Chugg, and who successfully competed in
Nations Cups in 2011 with Katharina Offel. He is now ridden by Aleksander Onischenko
(UKR): Vivant is at his peak in sport and brings a highly interesting outcross pedigree to
Germany for ambitious jumper breeders: His sire Fuego du Prelet goes back through Jalisco
B (dam‘s sire of Mylord Carthago and Jalisca Solier) to Almé. Just like Dollar du Murier,
who took the Vice Champion title individually as well as the team champion title with Eric
Navet at the 2002 WEG in Jerez, Fuego is out of a Uriel dam. Quidam de Revel is also a
Jalisco son, just like Quito de Baussy, the 1990 World Champion. Landgraf and Ramzes AA
come into the game through the Holstein dam‘s sire, Landino. Hedjaz, who is found in the
third generation, is the dam‘s sire of Otterongo, who took fourth place in the 2000 Sydney
Olympics, and of McLain Ward‘s (USA) Sapphire, one of the most successful show jumpers
in the last ten years. In 2011, Vivant‘s beautiful daughter Vivant Love Vegas was a gem in
Uptown
dark bay · 16.7 hands · born 2001 · frozen semen
insemination fee 400 EUR per dose
No dressage line has managed to stay in the headlines all over the world like Ferro, who placed
fi fth in the Sydney Olympics. This black stallion, who goes back to Furioso II‘s full brother,
Mexico, is the grandsire of two shooting stars in 2011 who were members of the European Championship
winning team, Uthopia/Carl Hester and Valegro/Charlotte Dujardin. Two horses that
have a good chance of winning individual medals in the upcoming Olympic Games in their
riders‘ homeland. Uptown, whose suppleness at the shoulder is an impressive sight every time
you see him, is not an unknown. He was a Dutch Champion Stallion, won the Pavo Cup when
he was a young horse, the Dutch equivalent of the Bundeschampionat and took fi fth place
in the World Championships for young dressage horses. In his dam line, which is based on
an Oldenburg family, you fi nd French bloodline elements that are connected to Furioso II and
Inschallah AA. Uptown already has two licensed sons in the Netherlands. Uptown‘s dam Carina
is especially interesting because she produced another licensed son named Vazal who was successful
in dressage rings up to advanced (S) level as well as a son named Juwel who competes
in international show jumping. Uptown makes the kind of foals that are in demand in modern
day dressage horse breeding: Long legs, a stylish silhouette and great movements – and they
inherit these traits from their sire.
Best jumper stallion at the 2009 Weser-Ems licensing
We would like to introduce Makuna Matata, a jumper pony and future sire strictly bred for performance.
His fi rst attempts at jumping under saddle are well in line with the ability he showed while
free jumping at the licensing — here was clearly the best jumper stallion of his year. With his fast
refl exes, ideal technique and unlimited ability, the requirements at the licensing were just child‘s play.
In the 2011 show season – and just four years old – he took his fi rst ribbons home from novice (A) level
tests for jumper ponies. In Melle-Ostenfelde he was even qualifi ed for the Bundeschampionat in the
class for fi ve-year old jumper ponies.
His sire Machno Carwyn is the most successful jumper stallion of all times and won the individual
European Champion title twice. The dam‘s sire Losander, who was also successful in national show
jumping competitions, sired numerous top ponies such as the current Westphalian Champion, La
The year 2012 marks the 30th anniversary of Argentinus‘ licensing – and it is permitted
to say that a legend began on that day. Even today, our former main sire is still a performance
sire and just as modern as ever. Many internationally successful horses once again
reinforced his reputation as a top sire in the 2011 season. Horses such as Banda de Hus
and her French rider, Kevin Staut, who ranked sixth in the World Ranking List the end of
2011 or the winner of the Nations Cup of La Baule who also placed third in Lummen, Asti
Spumante, ridden by Thomas Mühlbauer, underline Argentinus‘ qualities. Other shining
examples were Aquino and Joachim Heyer who won ribbons in Leipzig, Dortmund and
Bremen or Jan Sprehe‘s Areno and, last not least, Armitage. But he also passed on great
potential for dressage which is seen in his grandson, Augustin OLD, ridden by Victoria
Max-Theurer, who was the second best dressage stallion in German sport in 2011, and his
daughter Rafalca, a World Cup fi nalist under Jan Ebeling (USA). His progeny have won
more than fi ve million Euros in total! Frozen semen from this extraordinary stallion is still
All breeders who utilise the services of Zuchthof Klatte accept the following conditions as well
as the covering and insemination conditions of the respective organisations.
I. CHILLED SEMEN
Semen orders for stallions kept at the Klatte farm must be placed by 10 a.m.!
Semen orders for stallions not kept at the Klatte farm (Cooper, Vittorio) must be placed
by 10 a.m. on the previous day.
When placing semen orders, please provide the following details:
· Full address of the owner of the mare, invoice recipient, location of
mare and the dispatch address
· Inseminating vet with full address
· Mare details with 15-digit UELN number
· Desired stallion
· Breeding organisation
The covering certifi cate should be submitted at/before the fi rst cover.
A. CONDITIONS FOR GERMANY, AUSTRIA, THE NETHERLANDS AND BELGIUM
Cover fee
For the stallions Armitage, Chlodwig, Collado, Cooper, Cornet’s Prinz, Dr. Doolittle, Farewell III,
Uptown und Vittorio, a split cover fee applies. For these stallions a deposit of 300 EUR is due
before the fi rst cover. Should no new semen order be placed after 30 days, the breeder/client
will be invoiced for the remaining cover fee (see cover fee for the respective stallion). Any
breeder/client who has not provided veterinary certifi cation of the non-pregnant mare will be
invoiced for the remaining cover fee no later than 15 September 2012. A barren mare can only
be considered as such if veterinary certifi cation has been provided!
For all other stallions, the conditions on the respective stallion pages apply.
36
Terms and Conditions
The cover fees stated are fi nal prices, inclusive of VAT. If two or more mares are being inseminated,
we offer more attractive conditions. For more detailed information, do not hesitate
to get in touch with us. Vouchers must be handed in before the fi rst order; otherwise they are
no longer valid!
Barren mares
Should a mare remain barren throughout the cover year, the deposit remains valid for the
following season, on the condition that veterinary certifi cation has been shown to us by 15
September of each year. If the stallion is changed, the stallion last used is the one for which
you will be invoiced. If a mare fails to conceive in the second year, a new deposit of 300 EUR
will be due.
B. Conditions exclusively for Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium
Cover fee and invoicing
Semen will only be dispatched if payment has been received in advance for the full cover fee,
plus two lots of dispatch costs á 130 EUR and two veterinary certifi cates á 20 EUR. We reserve
the right to issue invoices for any additional costs incurred for dispatching semen.
Barren mares
Should a mare not conceive in a cover year, the option exists to inseminate the mare in the
following cover season upon submission of a veterinary certifi cate (subject to the availability
of a stallion).
Insemination will only be offered free of charge the following season if the mare is made available
for insemination again before 1 April; otherwise an invoice for 50% of the cover fee will be
issued. If the mare is swapped, an invoice for 50% of the cover fee will also be issued. If the
cover fee rises or the stallion is swapped for another one with a higher cover fee, the difference
will be invoiced. If a stallion is swapped to one with a lower cover fee, no refunds will be given.
C. Service
Sperm dispatch
Sperm dispatch costs must be met by the owner of the mare. All of the costs for sperm consignments
sent from our third-party stallions to the Klatte facilities and to the place where the

mare is located will also be passed on to the owner of the mare by Zuchthof Klatte.
Veterinary certifi cation for sperm consignments sent abroad
For each sperm consignment sent abroad, we will charge 20 EUR for issuing the necessary
certifi cation (for Cooper, the fee is 40 EUR ). If an original certifi cate is required (e.g. for England
and Switzerland), another 20 EUR will be charged for the associated additional expense.
Guest mares
Pastures (from May) and boxes are available. Boarding fees are 12 EUR per day/mare, pasture
fees are 8 EUR per day/mare. Horses board at the owner’s own risk; however, the owner of the
stallion is liable for any damages caused by them or their assistants that are due to wilful or
gross negligence.
Gynaecological health check
Every day at 11 a.m., except on Sundays and bank holidays, a health check is performed by the
veterinary surgeon Alexandra Klatte. We charge 15 EUR for a gynaecological ultrasound scan
(follicular check). For stabled mares, we offer an examination package for each horse period.
This costs 60 EUR for fresh inseminations and 100 EUR for deep-frozen inseminations. Any
medication, treatment or douches will be invoiced separately.
We are also happy to take on the complete organisation of insemination with stallions from
other facilities. Get in touch with us if you are interested.
Zuchthof Klatte assumes no liability for insemination carried out outside our facilities.
Visiting hours
Visiting hours are between 10 a.m. and 12 noon and between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, or
by prior arrangement.
On Sunday and bank holidays we ask you to visit our stables in the morning.
General
The cover season is limited to the period between 15 February and 15 August
The place of fulfi lment and place of jurisdiction is Lastrup/Cloppenburg.
Availability of stallions
No cover fee can be claimed if:
· there is a pause caused by injury
· the stallion is sold during the cover period
· the stallion is participating in tournaments
However, the fee will be charged to another stallion in the Zuchthof Klatte stables (this does
not apply to deep-frozen sperm). If the option exists to fall back on the deep-frozen sperm of
the unavailable stallion, the mare can be brought the Klatte facilities.
II. Deep-frozen semen
Deep-frozen sperm is only dispatched if payment has been received in advance. Deep-frozen
sperm is sold by the portion. One portion consists of insemination from a number of pipettes
on the basis of the calculation during the freezing process. Deep-frozen sperm is used at the
risk of the owner/seller of the mare. No claims for damages may be made against Zuchthof
Klatte.
We charge 100 EUR per stallion for processing the insemination, issuing a veterinary certifi cate
and dispatching the container with liquid nitrogen. This fee also includes the hire charge for
a container. Should the container not be returned within eight days of receiving it (address:
Zuchthof Klatte, Rossegarden 5, 49688 Lastrup, Germany), Zuchthof Klatte reserves the right to
charge 1,200 EUR for a lost container.
