Disinfection peracetic acid
for food industry and agriculture
Concentrate
Fields of application: • Disinfection of tanks, systems, pipelines and all surfaces having contact with food, in milk production
especially for milking unit, milking systems and udder towel disinfection
• Disinfection – preventively and in order to control of infectious animal diseases – animal stables (also if
animals are present), facilities, devices and liquid waste
• Special fields: Disinfection of aseptic production systems and devices in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics
industry; ion exchanger systems and sewage
Characteristics:
Peracetic acid is a highly effective microbicide: it effectively kills viruses (enveloped and nonenveloped),
bacteria (incl. TB), spores and funguses.
Extremely quick-acting at low application concentrations.
Also effective at low temperatures.
Is degraded after the disinfection to acetic acid, oxygen and water.
No negative influence on downstream biogas plants.
Included in the lists of tested disinfectants by the German Veterinary Medical Society (Deutsche
Veterinärmedizinische Gesellschaft e.V., DVG) for
• food industry (incl. milk and dairy products) and
• animal husbandry.
Composition: 100 ml Wofasteril contain ca. 40 g acetyl hydroperoxide (peracetic acid) as active substance as well as
hydrogen peroxide, acetic acid and stabilising components.
Appearance: Slightly yellow-greenish to colourless liquid with specific odour.
Application / dosage: Wofasteril E 400 can be used alone or together with alcapur in combination method. Consider the corresponding
product information for use in combination method.
1) A temporary up to 0.5% increase of concentrations is recommended in case of appearance of enzootic mycoplasma mastitis.
2) Application solutions are stackable. No rerinsing is required after disinfection.
The solutions intended for immediate consumption are produced by dilution with rust-free drinking water. The
object is to be cleaned thoroughly in any case before disinfection.
Milking systems are disinfected using non-tempered Wofasteril E 400 working solutions after tempered alkaline
cleaning and intermediate rinsing with water.
Interactions: Must not be combined with other disinfectants (except for alcohols) due to risk of chemical reactions, as they
can lead to a decrease in effect.
Material compatibility: We recommend testing of the material compatibility before the product is used. Apply the product in an
appropriate concentration on an inconspicuous spot. Stainless steels, aluminium, galvanised or tinned iron,
plastics, enamels and rubber are resistant. Non-noble metals and non-ferrous metals such as exposed iron,
brass and copper as well as to a lesser extent concrete are affected and accelerate decomposition of the
disinfectant.
Adding alcapur (Wofasteril combination method) prevents disinfection-related reinforced corrosion.
Indications of risk: These indications refer to the concentrate. Highly oxidising, may cause fire. Harmful by inhalation, if swallowed
and in contact with skin. May cause severe burns. May form highly irritating vapours. Very toxic to aquatic
organisms.

Safety tips: Keep away from alkali, heavy metals, mechanical contamination, organic products and sources of ignition. Keep
away from food, drink and animal foodstuffs. In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse immediately with plenty
of water and seek medical advice.
Wear suitable protective clothing (gloves and eye/face protection). For the handling with the concentrated
product we recommend gloves made with Nitrile-chloroprene 2-layer-system, total layer thickness: 0.65 mm
(e.g. chemical resistant glove “Nitopren” of company KCL). For the handling of the working solution we
recommend disposable nitrile gloves with a total layer thickness of 0.1 mm (e.g. chemical resistant glove
“Dermatril L 741” of company KCL) or at higher loads with a total layer thickness of 0.2 mm (e.g. chemical
resistant glove “Dermatril L 743”).
In case of accident or if you feel unwell seek medical advice immediately (show label where possible). Avoid
release to the Environment. Ask for special instructions/consult the safety data sheet. If swallowed: Rinse mouth
with water (only if the person is conscious). During spraying as aerosol wear additional respirator mask with filter
for acidic gases (gas filter, filter type B, where possible in combination with particulate filter). Forms chlorine gas
with products containing and/or releasing active chlorine that is irritating to respiratory system.
Storage: Store sealed and out of the reach of children. Keep only in the original container with venting closure closed
tightly, in an upright position in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep away from direct sunlight. Do not fill back
used liquids or products from other containers into the Wofasteril E 400 container.
Disposal: Waste and containers must be disposed of in a safe way. Dispose small quantities after appropriate
neutralisation (pH ca. 7) diluted with plenty of water into drains.
Larger quantities are to be disposed of at a licensed waste collection point according to local authority
regulations. Do not empty into drains.
Shelf life: At least 1 year without loss of effect, if stored appropriately.
