IREB ® Certifi ed Professional for Requirements Engineering
Advanced Level
The certifi cation scheme „Certifi ed Professional for Requirements Engineering“ (CPRE) is
available as Foundation and Advanced Level. Focused on business needs, the syllabus for
each tier provides a funded practical training based upon scientifi c principles.
After completing the IREB ® CPRE Foundation Level (FL), the Advanced Level (AL) deepens
the specifi c knowledge for quality assurance in requirements engineering.
Two modules are available for the IREB ® CPRE Advanced Level, with each AL-certifi cate
focusing on a specifi c aspect, technique, task, domain or process of requirements engineering:
- „Elicitation and Consolidation“ appeals among others to specialists in the fi elds of requirements
engineering, BPA/business analysis, business engineering, organizational
design who want to extend their knowledge and skills in the fi eld of requirements elicitation
and consolidation.
- „Requirements Modeling“ training focuses on enabling the participants to effi ciently
use models in their work as a requirements engineer. This module is focused on practical
experience and training. By means of numerous exercises you will learn how to
use UML models for the description of functions, behaviour and, of course, information
structures and how to combine those models with natural-language requirements. Part
of the “Requirements Modeling” module concentrates on ways to connect business
processes and the use of the created models during implementation.

PREREQUISITES If a candidate applies for the exam, the certification body checks whether the
examinee has a Foundation Level certificate issued by a certifier licensed
by IREB e.V. Such a certificate is a necessary prerequisite for being admitted
to a CPRE Advanced Level exam.

EXAM The exam consists of two components
1) Written examination (Paper-based or E-exam, 75 minutes (25% time extension
for non-native speakers available on request), 45 multiple-choice questions,
minimum score 60%
2) Thesis (elaboration of predetermined topics)
