instead <strong>of</strong> receiving him in <strong>her</strong> own home,<br />

because <strong>of</strong> the woman standing t<strong>her</strong>e. Clare<br />

made him soon feel that blame might rest<br />

upon him in anot<strong>her</strong> and quite different<br />

manner ; he might be called to account
