An idea possessed <strong>her</strong> that as long as he<br />

he had fulfilled his purpose. She would<br />

the theatre on their return from America<br />

following it. In this dilemma what she<br />

thought a great piece <strong>of</strong> good fortune pre-<br />

sented itself, in the shape <strong>of</strong> a woman <strong>of</strong><br />

the tramp or pedlar class, but decently<br />

dressed for <strong>her</strong> station, and wearing a short
