the drops, I think he ought to have those."<br />

She went to the mantelpiece, and took<br />

up a bottle. Mr. Harben had told <strong>her</strong><br />

that if the patient showed signs <strong>of</strong> extreme<br />

exhaustion after his interview with Mr.<br />

Masters, so many drops were to be admi-<br />

nistered to him ; so many more at certain<br />

intervals during the night, if the exhaustion<br />

continued.<br />

he had said, " and we must not let him<br />

down again if we can help it."<br />
