A servant brought in a message for the<br />

doctor. Some one was waiting who could<br />

wait no longer. Temple Masters under-<br />

stood the hint conveyed, and went away at<br />

once, leaving Mr. Harben to proceed with<br />

At one o'clock the doctor was in Mr. Thorn-<br />

ton's chamber. The patient was apparently<br />
