I cannot agree with either the late Dr. Sharpe >>i 1»;
Hartert that this bird is correctly placed in the genus Cyanoderma,
Salvad., of which the type is Cyanoderma
(Blyth), from Borneo, which has naked cheeks, whereas the
present bird has them feathered.
As Dr. Hartert notes, St. melanothorax has been omitted
from the Catalogue of Birds (Vol. VII. but is carefully described
bv Sharpe in 1N84. {Notes Leyden Mus. \i.. p. 177
