HOFSTRA CONTINUES CONFERENCE WINNING STREAK: The Pride will<br />

continue their 35-match conference dual match undefeated streak in<br />

20<strong>04</strong>-<strong>05</strong>. Hofstra, which won its last conference dual match in 1998-99,<br />

was 6-0-1 in 1999-2000, 6-0-0 in 2000-01, 6-0-0 in 2001-02, 7-0-0 in<br />

2002-03, and 8-0-0 in 2003-<strong>04</strong>. The last time Hofstra dropped a<br />

conference dual match was February 17, 1999, when the Broncs of<br />

Rider beat the Pride, 28-10, in an East Coast <strong>Wrestling</strong> Association<br />

(ECWA) match.<br />

THE WRESTLING MALL RANKS THE PRIDE 16TH IN PRESEASON<br />

POLL: The <strong>Wrestling</strong> Mall ranks the Hofstra Pride 16th in its 20<strong>04</strong>-<strong>05</strong><br />

preseason poll. The <strong>Wrestling</strong> Mall also ranked four Hofstra wrestlers in<br />

its top 20 rankings. Sophomore John Manarte is ranked 14th at 141<br />

pounds, junior Jon Masa is ranked fifth at 149 pounds, senior Paul<br />

Siemon is ranked 11th at 157 pounds and senior Chris Skretkowicz is<br />

ranked sixth at 197 pounds.<br />

HOFSTRA FAVORED AGAIN IN THE CAA: The Hofstra Pride are the<br />

preseason favorite to record their fifth consecutive conference<br />

championship in a vote of the Colonial Athletic Association coaches. The<br />

Pride, who have all 10 wrestlers ranked in the CAA top six, accumulated<br />

56 points in the preseason poll. Rider (38) and Drexel (34), each with 10<br />

ranked wrestlers, placed second and third, respectively in the poll.<br />

Boston and Sacred Heart round out the top half of the CAA preseason<br />

poll. Old Dominion, George Mason, Wagner, Campbell and James<br />

Madison complete the preseason poll.<br />

TWO PRIDE WRESTLERS NAMED TO CAA PRESEASON ALL-<br />

FRESHMAN TEAM: Freshmen Charles Griffin (133 pounds) and Joe<br />

Rovelli (184 pounds) have been named to the 20<strong>04</strong>-<strong>05</strong> CAA Preseason<br />

All-Freshman Team in a vote by conference coaches. Dusty McKinney<br />

from George Mason was picked at 125, Mike Roberts from Boston<br />

University was selected at 141, Hunter Davenport from Old Dominion<br />

was chosen at 149, Billy Haydt from Drexel was picked at 157, Chris<br />

Tripp from B.U. was selected at 165, Randy Oates from George Mason<br />

was chosen at 174, Jon Oplinger from Drexel was picked at 197 and<br />

Alex Eaton from ODU was selected at heavyweight.<br />
