Flower Bracteate, bracteolate, pedicellate, dichlamydeous, complete, tetra or pentamerous, actinomorphic and epigynous. Calyx Sepals 4 or 5, gamosepalous rarely polysepalous, showing valvate aestivation. In Mussaenda, one of the sepals is brightly coloured. It is called petaloid sepal.
