The motto of Brussels’ Moeder Alambic bar is ‘beer is the answer’. We’re not sure what the question
is, but we did want to ask customers their top tips for getting the most out of the Belgian capital

people to check out the fl ea
markets here. My best fi nd?
Ten pairs of brand new shoes,
all in my size, that I got off
this shoe fanatic for only fi ve
euros apiece! They included
swish labels like Prada and
Timberland. Incredible. I’m still
wearing them.

Comme je recherche
toujours de vieux 33 tours,
je fais les brocantes qui
ne manquent pas ici. Ma
meilleure trouvaille ? Dix
paires de chaussures état
neuf, à ma pointure, achetée
5 € pièce à un malade de
la chaussure. Elles étaient
d'enseignes comme Prada
et Timberland. Incroyable !
D’ailleurs je les porte encore.

When in Brussels you should
indulge in those big greasy
fries, drink loads of beer and
take those delicious, light
waffl es and press them to
your face – you could use
them as pillows! This is also
a great place to see bands.
Part of the reason I’m here
is to see psychedelic
electronica band MGMT.
Laissez-vous tenter par
les grosses frites bien grasses
et buvez des tonnes de bière.
Savourez les gaufres ultralégères
et appuyez-les contre
votre visage – on pourrait s'en
faire un oreiller ! C’est aussi
un super endroit pour assister
à des concerts. Je suis là en
partie pour voir le groupe
électro-psychédélique MGMT.
