Operation<br />

1. Choose a convenient distance ‘AB’ and measure it in inches.<br />

2. Hang a plumb line from ‘B’.<br />

3. Measure the horizontal distance from ‘A’ to plumb line in inches (‘AC’).<br />

Divide ‘AC’ by ‘AB’ to get COS α.<br />

4. If the angle of incline in degrees is known, use the following table.<br />
