8. Press ENTER twice. The display should respond with NEW PASSWORD<br />

ACQUIRED.<br />

9. Scroll down to OPERATOR PASSWORD. Press ENTER twice. The<br />

display should respond with NEW PASSWORD ACQUIRED.<br />

10. Select MAIN MENU 3. The PROT soft key should not appear, indicating<br />

all passwords have been erased. If PROT does appear, repeat Steps 1<br />

through 9.<br />

4.9 Lithium Battery Replacement<br />

The Micro-Tech volatile memory backup battery can be replaced without any<br />

special tools.<br />

WARNING<br />

DANGER OF EXPLOSION IF BATTERY IS<br />

INCORRECTLY REPLACED.<br />

Replace only with same or equivalent type recommended by <strong>Thermo</strong> Scientific.<br />

Dispose of used battery according to manufactures instruction on battery or<br />

return to <strong>Thermo</strong> Scientific. (Refer to Section 4.10.)<br />

1. Record all configuration, setup, and calibration data before removing<br />

battery. All information is lost when the battery is removed.<br />

2. Turn the Micro-Tech power off at the mains.<br />

3. Remove the battery from its compression socket.<br />

4. Observe the polarity markings on the battery socket base before inserting the<br />

new battery. The lithium battery is .3V, 1.2 AH, 2/3 A, <strong>Thermo</strong> Scientific<br />

part number 037188.<br />

5. Insert battery<br />

6. Restore power to the Micro-Tech.<br />

7. Cold start the Micro-Tech. See Section 4.4 for cold start procedures.<br />

8. Re-enter all data recorded in Step 1.<br />

4.10 Disposal of Hazardous Waste<br />

Disposal of Lithium batteries and soldered print circuit boards should be in<br />

accordance with your local Hazardous Waste Policy.<br />

As an alternative, you may return product supplied by <strong>Thermo</strong> Scientific, freight<br />

prepaid for disposal. Contact <strong>Thermo</strong> Scientific Repair Department for a Return<br />

Authorization Number before shipping any product for disposal.<br />
