in the golden autumn. In this issue, we take a look at all the wonderful<br />

upcoming events in <strong>october</strong> and november. The macao orchestra tells<br />

us its story and what to expect at the macao International music festival,<br />

and we pay a visit with the drivers and the racing ladies of the macau<br />

grand Prix. Then, we’ll fly to Tokyo and sichuan to check out the sights<br />

and happenings.<br />

with the ever-developing world wide web, more and more<br />

customers are taking advantage of the convenience of online ticket<br />

booking. air macau has made updating its online booking system a<br />

top priority. being the hub of transportation for greater china, special<br />

adjustments to deal with the different currencies are needed. Thanks to<br />

the hard work of our air macau online team, we launched our online<br />

ticketing service for macau back on 10 June 2008. Taiwan access followed<br />

this past february, and beijing and shanghai access were activated in<br />

august. b2b and b2c online ticketing services will continue to be<br />

developed for all destinations of air macau.<br />

聲已經悠然奏響,然後又帶來了格蘭披治大賽車的轟鳴。<br />

本期的《澳門航空雜誌》,網羅澳門10、11月的盛事。先由<br />

澳門國際音樂節說起,讓澳門樂團細述古典音樂之二三事;再與<br />

一眾車手和賽車女郎一起回顧、展望澳門格蘭披治大賽車的盛<br />

況。然後,我們飛到東京,走訪著名的築地市場;再到四川搭乘<br />

懷舊的嘉陽蒸氣小火車。本期雜誌也專訪了大紅人陳奕迅。<br />

隨著電子商務的迅速發展,網上購票以其方便快捷而越來越<br />

受到航空公司乘客的青睞。澳門航空也把開通網上購票系統作<br />

為頭等重要的工作。地處大中華交通樞紐上的澳門航空比較特<br />

殊,由於主要客源來自兩岸三地,匯率兌換、付款系統各有不<br />

同,為網上購票系統的設置、運營都帶來一定的難度。澳門航<br />

空組成工作團隊進行項目攻關。於2008年6月10日澳門地區的<br />

網上購票系統成功上線;<strong>2009</strong>年2月23日,台灣地區網上購票<br />

系統啟動。<strong>2009</strong>年8月,北京、上海網絡購票系統啟動,到年<br />

底,B2B、B2C電子網絡售票系統會在澳門航空內地所有航點陸<br />

續投產,為內地來澳門的旅客提供了方便的購票渠道。<br />

希望各位貴賓搭乘澳門航空的班機,到澳門度過一個好聽、<br />

grid girls gear up for the 56th annual Macau Grand Prix<br />

André Couto is always ready for a good race. Ever<br />

since he was a little boy growing up in Macau, he<br />

would challenge other kids on his street to see who<br />

was the fastest on their bikes or skateboards. The city’s<br />

most decorated professional driver now races full<br />

time in Japan’s Super GT, and considers himself a big<br />

kid with big toys. He is psyched for this year’s Macau<br />

Grand Prix, relishing the chance to compete again<br />

on what he considers the world’s most challenging<br />

Formula 3 street circuit.<br />

“The Macau Grand Prix is very special,” says Couto. “It’s<br />

the best of Formula 3 – it is the sport’s world cup. Being a<br />

street circuit, it gives me a buzz. It keeps me always on the<br />

edge. If I want to win, I have to keep close to the walls. It is<br />

also over six kilometres long, while a large track would be<br />

four to five kilmetres in most Formula 1 races. The g-force<br />

can get as high as 3.3; it’s like being on a rollercoaster. But<br />

on a rollercoaster, people are screaming for only a few<br />

minutes. The Grand Prix race is an hour long.”<br />

感到興奮,他超愛挑戰被視為全球難度最高的三級<br />

方程式賽車場地——澳門街頭賽道。<br />

「澳門格蘭披治大賽車非常特別。」古圖說道:<br />

「它是全球最佳的三級方程式賽車,可視為賽車的<br />

的『世界盃』。街頭環道賽車給我極大的快感,我<br />

必須保持在道路外緣飆速,如果我想贏,我就得儘<br />

量靠近邊牆。澳門的車道超過6公里長,一般一級方<br />

程式賽車等級的大型比賽車道大約4至5公里長。澳<br />

門車道的引力可高達3.3,那就像是坐在過山車上,<br />

但過山車不過幾分鐘的時間,尖叫驚呼一陣便結束<br />

了,但格蘭披治賽車的時間卻長達一小時!」<br />

第56屆格蘭披治大賽車剛好遇上澳門特別行政<br />

區成立十週年,主辦單位結合賽車籌劃了一連串的<br />

慶祝活動,這項澳門年度盛事將在四天裡結合三大<br />

國際賽事:澳門格蘭披治三級方程式大賽車、FIA世<br />

界房車錦標賽,以及澳門格蘭披治電單車大賽。<br />

The 56th annual Grand Prix coincides with the 10th<br />

anniversary of the Macau SAR, and the organisers have<br />

a number of events planned to mark the celebrations<br />

both on and off the track. Macau’s annual extravaganza<br />

is unique because it combines three international races<br />

over four days: the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix, the<br />

FIA World Touring Car Championship and the Macau<br />

Motorcycle Grand Prix.<br />

“The Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix has long been<br />

recognised as the breeding ground for future Formula 1<br />

stars,” says a spokesperson with the Macau Grand Prix<br />

Committee. “Sixteen of this year’s Formula 1 World<br />

Championship drivers have raced at Macau. Many<br />

others, such as Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher,<br />

David Coulthard, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton,<br />

were launched onto the international motor sport<br />

world stage at Macau.”<br />

Eurico de Jesus is an amateur racer who has not<br />

missed a single CTM Macau Touring Car Race since<br />

2002. His love affair with cars began when he was<br />

a kid, and he studied automotive engineering as a<br />

way to indulge his passion. When he isn’t racing in<br />

Asian meets with Five Auto Racing Team, he owns<br />

and operates Five Auto Centre Acessorios Para<br />

Automovel. Like Couto, he finds the Guia circuit<br />

extremely demanding, but it is also his favourite. “It<br />

has everything: high and low speed corners, hairpin<br />

turns, stretches where I can go really fast,” he says.<br />

“I remember being very nervous the first few years I<br />

was racing, but now, I’m much more relaxed. I enjoy it<br />

more because I feel like I have nothing to prove.”<br />

是一級方程式賽車新星的搖籃。」澳門格蘭披治<br />

大賽車委會員一位發言人說道:「今年世界盃一<br />

級方程式賽車的選手有16名曾經在澳門出賽,其<br />

他像冼拿(Ayrton Senna)、舒密加(Michael<br />

Schumacher)、古達(David Coulthard)、畢頓<br />

(Jenson Button)、咸姆頓(Lewis Hamilton)等<br />

積薩斯(Eurico de Jesus)是業餘賽車手中的<br />

道、U型彎道、能全速衝飆的直路。」他說:「我記<br />

得頭幾年在這裡賽車時有多緊張,但是現在,我已<br />

經能放鬆比賽了,我更能享受賽車的快樂,是因為<br />

覺得自己已經沒必要再證實什麼了。」<br />

為了令身心準備好全力應付賽事,古圖必須健<br />

身、跑步。「跑步是最佳的體能訓練,」他透露,<br />

「因為跑步超無聊!差不多跑了15分鐘,我就想放<br />

棄不跑,因為覺得看不到終點。跑步可以訓練堅強<br />

的意志。」積薩斯則以騎單車加上健身房來訓練<br />

De Jesus keeps himself fit with bike rides and going<br />

to the gym. “It is very hot racing in Asia,” he notes. “It<br />

can be 40-50°C in the car, with our uniform and gear<br />

on. Everyone looks so professional and cool, but we<br />

are mostly sweating buckets inside the cars waiting<br />

for a race to start! I have to be in very good shape to<br />

endure the pressure.”<br />

Couto also keeps his mind and body focused for the<br />

demands of racing by going to the gym and running.<br />

“Running is the best sport for training,” he reveals,<br />

“because it is boring! I want to quit after 15 minutes<br />

because I feel like I can’t see the end. This trains my<br />

mind to be strong.”<br />

Along with the drivers and the gorgeous cars, Macau’s<br />

grid girls also attract a fair share of attention at the Grand<br />

Prix. These young ladies are like walking-and-talking<br />

billboards for advertisers, although their main duty is to<br />

identify cars for the starting line-up. Thirty girls represented<br />

Canon last year, including Monique Mak. “It was a very<br />

得賽車在亞洲並未受到足夠的重視,「在香港、澳<br />

門,跑車被認為是公子哥兒燒錢的玩意,」積薩斯<br />

嘆道,「在歐洲,賽車是非常普遍的運動,這是東<br />

西文化極大的差異處。如果我負擔得起,我會一直<br />

投入賽車活動!」<br />

The multi-ethnic Macao Orchestra finds<br />

harmony with the city’s colonial heritage<br />

Aside from being cultural-heritage hot spots, what do<br />

The Dom Pedro V Theatre, St Dominic’s Church, and St<br />

Joseph’s Seminary have in common? They’re all music<br />

venues. For audiences and performers – such as the Macao<br />

Orchestra – being at such historic cultural venues adds a<br />

profound depth to the experience.<br />

According to Macao Orchestra Music Director and<br />

Principal Conductor Lu Jia, Macau has been the meeting<br />

point of Eastern and Western culture throughout its<br />

history, and this rich tradition has benefited the local<br />

development of classical music. In addition, the orchestra<br />

has always benefited from support from the government,<br />

which makes inviting overseas musicians – orchestras and<br />

artists – easier.<br />

澳門的歷史發展,也是音樂表演場地,觀眾和表演者<br />

置身其中,別有一番感受。經常有機會在文化遺產中<br />

表演的澳門樂團成員,更有特別深刻的體會。<br />

澳門樂團音樂總監兼首席指揮呂嘉認為,澳門數<br />

百年來一直是中西文化的交匯點,這個傳統有利古典<br />

音樂在本地的發展,而且澳門樂團也一直得到政府的<br />

支持,可以從海外聘請音樂家加盟,以及邀請世界有<br />

名的音樂家和樂團合作演出,從而提升樂團的水平。<br />

「現在澳門樂團一天比一天進步,而且觀眾的水平也<br />

愈來愈高,我們會推出更多古典音樂推廣活動,例<br />

如『古典音樂入門速成音樂會』、『兒童節音樂會』<br />

等,令公眾學會欣賞古典音樂。」<br />

在等待訪問拍照時,一身便裝的呂嘉和小號手大<br />

“The quality of the Macao Orchestra, along with<br />

audience expectation, is increasing by the day,” says<br />

Lu. “We will continue to promote and market classical<br />

performances. For example, ‘A Shortcut to Classical Music’<br />

and ‘Children’s Day Concert’ are two events that will<br />

enable the learning public to become more familiar with<br />

classical music.”<br />

Lu and trumpet player David Rouault, both wine<br />

enthusiasts, are discussing the art of wine-tasting while<br />

waiting for their photo shoot. A fan of red wine, Lu says he<br />

has over 400 types in an Italian winery. “Red wine is like<br />

music – there’s no limit to it. Sipping a wine at different<br />

times in different environments gives it a different taste,”<br />

he says, adding that music needs to be defined and aged<br />

similarly. “Macao Orchestra is in a growing stage. It’s still<br />

being moulded, and I’m hoping it will one day become a<br />

world-class chamber orchestra,” he says.<br />

So just how does Lu plan<br />

to mould the orchestra? “I’m<br />

usually quite easy-going<br />

except when it comes to<br />

music – I’m quite persistent,”<br />

he says with a smile. “I<br />

hope the others play music<br />

because it’s their love, not<br />

because it’s their work!”<br />

Two veterans of the<br />

orchestra – French native<br />

Rouault and the Macau-born<br />

and raised Kuong Pou-lei – would probably agree with Lu.<br />

Rouault is an award-winning, accomplished trumpet<br />

player from France. His awards include a first prize for<br />

trumpet from the National Music School in Montreuil,<br />

France, and he was unanimously awarded the Excellency<br />

Prize for Trumpet Player by the Rueil-Malmaison in<br />

France. He is currently Head of Trumpet in the Macao<br />

Orchestra. While performing in France, Rouault played<br />

with Europeans of similar background; but here the Macao<br />

Orchestra features a diverse international crew. The 41<br />

members come from across the globe, including the US,<br />

England, Russia, China and South Africa.<br />

To explore the culture of Macau, Rouault often ride his<br />

motorcycle across the city, visiting antique shops along the<br />

way. “To be able to play music and leave a legacy – that’s<br />

why I’ve stayed here so many years,” says Rouault.<br />

人都愛紅酒,呂嘉更透露他在意大利的酒庫已儲藏了<br />

400多瓶美酒!「紅酒就如音樂,有無限的可能性,在<br />

不同的時間、不同的環境下喝會有不同的味道。」他<br />

續指,音樂也是需要時間浸淫的,澳門樂團正處於成<br />

長的階段,沒有傳統的包袱,可塑性很高,有望在將<br />

來成為世界級的室樂團。<br />

至於呂嘉是用甚麼方法來鞭策團員呢?他笑說:<br />

「我平時滿隨和的,只有在音樂上堅持,我希望大<br />

家和我一樣,為興趣而演奏,而非因為這是他們的工<br />

作,因為音樂不是工作!」來自法國的小號手大衛.<br />

胡歐和在澳門土生土長的大提琴家鄺葆莉都是澳門樂<br />

團的元老級人馬,相信他們最能理解呂嘉的意思。<br />

大衛是法國有名的小號演奏家,曾獲多個大獎,<br />

包括法蘭西蒙特婁國家音樂學院小號比賽冠軍(1990<br />

年)、巴黎國家高等音樂學院室內樂演奏第一名<br />

(1997年)等,現時是澳門樂團首席小號。大衛以<br />

往在法國演奏,同伴多是文化背景相近的歐洲人,<br />

但澳門樂團是一個國際化的<br />

樂團,41名成員來自五湖四<br />

海,包括美國、英國、俄羅<br />

斯、中國、南非等。<br />

大衛不諱言,澳門獨有的<br />

文化氣息令他著迷,因此他<br />

經常騎摩托車環遊澳門、逛<br />

古董店。「能夠表演音樂和<br />

流傳後世,可能就是我留在<br />

這個小城市多年的原因。」<br />

至於「土產」大提琴家鄺<br />

葆莉,生於音樂世家,在父<br />

親的薰陶下,十歲起便開始學習大提琴,她形容自己<br />

能加入澳門樂團非常榮幸,就像夢想成真。「每個在<br />

澳門學音樂的人也以加入樂團為目標,想不到我真的<br />

能夠成功,因此我會用心把好音樂帶給觀眾。」呂嘉<br />

也對鄺葆莉的努力十分讚賞:「排練時一定要人在心<br />

在,葆莉不但用心練習,也會感染身邊的人。」<br />

鄺葆莉現時除了練團外,便全身投入音樂教育工<br />

作,有十多個學生,她又會到學校舉行音樂會,向年<br />

輕一代推廣古典音樂。「以前比較少人學古典音樂,<br />

有街坊看我拿著大提琴,都以為那是個大結他。不過<br />

現在已大大不同,愈來愈多人懂得欣賞古典音樂。」<br />

今年是澳門樂團第七個樂季,也是呂嘉坐鎮的第<br />

二個樂季,自上月起,有不少知名音樂家會來澳門,<br />

包括鋼琴詩人傅聰、大提琴家王健、小提琴家黃蒙拉<br />

等,他們會在澳門歷史城區舉辦三場「教堂精點」音<br />

樂會,讓觀眾可同時欣賞音樂和歷史建築。

2. 純金鑲嵌寶石帶鉤 西漢時期 長:24釐米<br />

帶鉤正面採用純金浮雕,前,後部飾龍頭圖案,中部龍身有數條<br />

小龍纏繞,並鑲有三顆琉璃珠。帶鉤嘴用瑪瑙圓雕成龍頭。帶鉤<br />

四邊鑲有紅寶石及綠松石。帶鉤底部滿錯金銀幾何圖案,結構複<br />

雜,紋飾華麗,製作精良,實為驚世之作。<br />

I love weekends in Hangzhou. Friday night sees a group of<br />

us spoil ourselves with some excellent authentic Punjabi<br />

cuisine at recently opened Moksh Indian Cuisine (39 Jie<br />

Fang Road, +86 571 8770 0782). After dinner there are a<br />

number of hotspots to visit, from the newly refurbished<br />

Vogue Club G-Plus on Bao Chu Road, to SOS at Huang<br />

Long Centre. There is also the infamous Shu Guang Road<br />

with numerous bars full of locals and local expats. Saturdays<br />

are for going to West Lake. The best way to get away from<br />

the crowds is either on a bicycle along the Su Di causeway<br />

or take a ride on one of many electrical golf cart-like vehicles<br />

circling the lake for RMB10. The Sofitel Hotel (333 West<br />

Lake Avenue, +86 571 8707 5858) also provides great lunch<br />

on its sixth-floor Yong Jin Ge Restuarant, with splendid<br />

views of the West Lake. On Sundays nothing beats a relaxing<br />

stroll through the picturesque Nine Creeks Scenic Area.<br />

Starting out after a great lunch of Beggar’s Chicken, fresh<br />

local vegetables and quality Long Jin tea in Long Jin village,<br />

I find myself surrounded by fields of tea bushes dotted here<br />

Linsen North Road is the alter-ego of Taipei. Grungy and down-to-earth, this street oozes<br />

everything ‘Tai’: open-door eateries serving delectable Taiwanese food; street-side stalls<br />

selling ready-to-eat chicken liver and hearts marinated in soy sauce; and one of the busiest<br />

have made Eason Chan the Cantopop tops<br />

Eason Chan’s charisma can be attributed to three<br />

things: his amazing vocals, his stage presence and his<br />

‘never grow old’ attitude. There’s never a dull moment<br />

when he’s on stage.<br />

There’s never a dull moment when interviewing him<br />

as well – during the interview session, he’s constantly<br />

recommending songs, and if you really get into it with<br />

him, he’ll even sing the song out loud for you. His<br />

passion for music is contagious, but we don’t possess<br />

his endless energy.<br />

“Sometimes my schedule is hectic, but it doesn’t<br />

matter,” he says. “To be honest, as long as you love what<br />

you do, you don’t get tired.”<br />

one. “My previous Mandarin discs were<br />

almost all recorded in hong Kong,” he<br />

says. “but for this one, i found Will lin<br />

[taiwan’s renowned music producer] to<br />

produce, and nine tracks were recorded in<br />

taiwan. i’ve long admired the work of Will,<br />

especially his sodagreen stuff.”<br />

chan adds that the rest of the sodagreen<br />

crew will cameo on his record, but what excites<br />

him most is the lead single. Give You is a selfpenned<br />

track. “This is the first time a song i wrote<br />

will act as the lead single,” he says.<br />

i was in someplace new, time flew by very fast, like i was on<br />

vacation,” he says, adding that he felt free and happy.<br />

chan’s in the live performances first have been acclaimed in recent<br />

years, starting with 2007’s ‘eason’s Moving on stage 1’ concert<br />

auction of <strong>2009</strong>, a<br />

任唱片監製,而且整張碟中有九首歌都在台灣錄<br />

音,暐哲老師是我一直很欣賞的音樂人,因為由<br />

他一手提攜的樂隊蘇打錄的音樂很棒,令我很想<br />

跟他合作。今次唱片內亦收錄了蘇打錄主音青峰、<br />

蔡健雅、范曉萱與張亞東等音樂人的作品,但說<br />

到最開心,就是我親自創作的一首《給你》,將會<br />

是唱片的第一主打,這是我第一次有機會以自己的<br />

作品成為首支派台歌,以往都編排得很後的呢!」<br />

台灣是Eason除香港以外的另一個重要基地,今次<br />

為了籌備新碟,他先後逗留台北15天來完成錄音工<br />

作。「我想是因為身處外地的關係,覺得時間過得<br />

特別快,感覺很自由、很開心。而且不似在香港般<br />

要兼顧其他工作,在台灣錄音的那段時間大家都<br />

很專注,我也特別珍惜這次難得的機會。」2007<br />

年在香港舉行的演唱會《Eason’s Moving On<br />

Stage1》得到空前的成功,之後08、09年Eason<br />

走遍了內地各主要城市、東南亞,甚至美國、加<br />

拿大、澳大利亞等超過25個城市開秀,面對著差<br />

不多一樣的編排,Eason依然賣力演出,絕無欺<br />

場,他說,雖然是同一個編排,同樣的幾十首<br />

歌,但每晚演唱都是獨一無二,所以他不會覺<br />

得悶。「對我而言,每次表演就是不一樣,<br />

在不同的場地,跟不同的樂手合作,面對不<br />

同的觀眾,他們的反應不一樣,也影響我有<br />

不一樣的演繹,我想這就是舞台的魔力。」<br />

跟同期出道的歌手比較,Eason可算是現今<br />

樂壇最活躍的一位,成績也遠

with a different crowd, they have different reactions, and it all<br />

affects me. It’s the magic of live performance.”<br />

Chan is among the more active of his contemporaries, with<br />

more success critically and commercially as well. And he<br />

plans to continue – with no end in sight. “I haven’t thought<br />

about retirement at all,” he says. “Even though I do envy<br />

those who have retired and are living the relaxed lifestyle.<br />

But ultimately my heart is with performing. I’m still<br />

young anyways – I shouldn’t be talking retirement!”<br />

Chan disagrees with the common perception that<br />

he’s a workaholic though. “I enjoy my own personal<br />

private time too,” he says, adding that he watches old<br />

Stephen Chow movies as a way to relax. “Last time I<br />

was in Malaysia to work, I watched six Stephen Chow<br />

movies in the four days I was there.”<br />

And when Chan is working, he isn’t controlling.<br />

“I’ve always let the company make the decisions that are<br />

theirs,” he says. “I believe as a singer my job is to sing and<br />

perform well.”<br />

嘛,到目前為止,真的從沒想過要退休,雖然有時看見<br />

他說:「我一直都將工作的決定權交給公司,每個人都<br />

應該有自己的崗位,作為歌手,我要做的就是把歌唱<br />

好、把表演做好,工作就留給公司同事為我安排,很<br />

多人誤會我是工作狂,其實我也很享受不用工作的私人<br />

時間,看看周星馳的舊作,已經是很好的舒緩壓力的方<br />

法。我曾經到馬來西亞工作,四天的行程中,我在餘暇<br />

時便看了六套周星馳的電影,很誇張吧!」<br />

A Sichuan railway is giving new life to a<br />

mountain town and delighting tourists<br />

As it hisses, judders and jangles along the subtropical<br />

mountain ridges of Leshan in Sichuan, the Jiayang steam<br />

train continues to make history a full 50 years after it was<br />

first launched.<br />

The Bashi Railway, which celebrated its 50th anniversary<br />

last July, began its life as a necessity. During World War II,<br />

the Jiayang Group started extracting coal from a major<br />

mine in the mountains of south Sichuan. At first the coal<br />

was hauled on a barge for the journey down river out of the<br />

mountains. But in 1958, when the government dammed<br />

the river for hydroelectric power, a rail track was planned<br />

as a substitute for the barge.<br />

It took about 10,000 labourers less than a year to<br />

construct the 20-kilometre track, which today meanders<br />

along the contours of the stooping mountains, running<br />

through six tunnels.<br />

嘉陽小火車<br />

四川嘉陽小火車重獲新生,無論對觀光<br />

客,還是對深山中的小鎮,均帶來好處<br />

在四川樂山,一輛小火車噴著煙霧,搖搖晃晃,轟隆<br />

轟隆,沿著亞熱帶的山脊駛過。嘉陽蒸汽小火車在整<br />

整開行了50年後,仍在續寫著它的歷史。<br />

嘉陽蒸汽小火車於今年7月剛慶祝了它的50周<br />

年。在二次世界大戰期間,嘉陽煤礦在四川南部的崇<br />

山峻嶺間開礦挖煤,起初利用駁船經山溝的水道把煤<br />

炭運出山外。但到1958年,國家在山間的河道上修<br />

建了水電站,因此嘉陽集團只得規劃修建一條鐵路來<br />

取代駁船。一萬名民工不用一年的時間便修了長20公<br />

里的軌道,鐵路在崇山峻嶺間蜿蜒而過,沿途還要經<br />

過六座長短不一的隧道。<br />

嘉陽煤礦公司旅遊開發管理部長袁成方說:「剛<br />

開始時,我們為小火車感到驕傲,因為在這樣艱難的<br />

路況條件下運行小火車,需要高超的工程技藝。」<br />

「由於缺乏資金,當時修建的軌道只有600毫米<br />

寬,依山而建,蜿蜒而行。」袁先生說:「鐵路要<br />

爬的坡度高達3.6%,這樣的坡度特別陡。小火車開<br />

始運行的第一年,遇到很多問題,火車頭總是打

“In the beginning,” says Yuan Chengfang, director of<br />

tourism for Jiayang Group, the coal mining company that<br />

runs the line, “the company was very proud of the railway,<br />

as it was something of an engineering feat to build and<br />

operate under such difficult conditions.<br />

“Lack of money forced us to build a narrow track, with<br />

a 600-millimetre gauge, that followed the contours of the<br />

mountains,” recounts Yuan. “Ironically, it is the 107 bends<br />

along the line that make the train journey so attractive for<br />

tourists today. But in its first year, the railway was beset with<br />

problems. The line rises along a gradient of 3.6%, which is<br />

unusually steep. The locomotive kept slipping backwards,<br />

derailing or capsizing. After a year, they widened the gauge<br />

to 762mm, and that solved the problems. ”<br />

Today, rail aficionados and an increasing number of<br />

tourists are thrilled that the train is set to continue its<br />

journeys – no longer out of necessity, but as a legally<br />

protected historical monument. “The Jiayang train is<br />

a marvel,” says Chen Yong, an eminent collector of<br />

model trains. “It’s almost like a toy, given the narrow<br />

track and tiny size of the locomotive and the total lack of<br />

electronic controls; even my model trains are much more<br />

technologically sophisticated. Modern trains fail at the<br />

merest breakdown of an electrical element, but the Jiayang<br />

runs whatever the trouble – as it has been doing day after<br />

day without fail for 50 years.”<br />

An entire small town called Bajiaogou had sprouted<br />

up on the back of the opportunities presented by<br />

employment in the mine. However, by 1988, the coal<br />

mines had been exhausted, but the company continued<br />

to run the train as an act of social responsibility. The<br />

little train was, and remains, the only way out of the<br />

mountains – it is the inhabitants’ lifeline. The company<br />

incurred losses; and by the turn of this century the train<br />

was running at operating losses amounting to RMB2<br />

million annually.<br />

需要小火車了,但作為受法律保護的工業文化遺產,<br />

它得繼續其旅程。火車模型收藏者陳勇說:「嘉陽小<br />

火車真是個奇跡,它太小了,像模型玩具一樣,其窄<br />

窄的軌道、小巧的火車頭,還無需電氣元件控制,我<br />

的火車模型使用的都是比它更為複雜的電氣控制系<br />

統。要知道,現代化的火車如果電氣系統出了一丁點<br />

問題,都不能開動,而嘉陽小火車卻能克服所有難<br />

題,從不間斷地運作了50年。」<br />

當年開礦需要工人,給巴蕉溝帶來了機遇,整個<br />

小鎮發展了起來,到1988年,煤炭資源開採枯竭,<br />

嘉陽集團就把小火車當作社會服務項目繼續運行。直<br />

到今天,小火車仍然是山溝通向外界的唯一通道。嘉<br />

陽集團為了維護小火車的運行,年年虧損,到本世紀<br />

之交,累計年虧損已達人民幣200萬元。<br />

2004年,嘉陽集團決定停運小火車,拆除鐵路,<br />

修建公路。計劃剛公布,就在廣大火車迷中引起強力<br />

反響,媒體隨之蜂擁而至,為這堪稱「老爺火車」即<br />

將退出歷史舞台而惋惜。大家的呼聲使嘉陽集團不得<br />

不重新評估小火車的價值,同時還引起了政府部<br />

But in 2004, it was decided that the train would be<br />

scrapped and a road built instead. This plan caused an outcry<br />

among train enthusiasts, and it provoked widespread media<br />

coverage lamenting the imminent demise of the train. This<br />

forced the government to reassess the situation, and it was<br />

decided to keep the line running for the sake of historical<br />

preservation. In 2006 the train was legally listed as a<br />

protected historical relic by the provincial government; next<br />

year it will be listed as a national historical monument. These<br />

legal designations paved the way for Jiayang Group – which is<br />

a state company – to underwrite the train’s operating losses,<br />

and promote the area for tourism in a bid to raise money.<br />

Tourist attractions in the mountains go beyond the<br />

train itself. There’s the backdrop of lush subtropical<br />

mountains, and there’s Bajiaogou, the industrial town<br />

that feels like a 40-year-old time warp. The evocative<br />

early industrial-era tenements where the inhabitants<br />

live are interspersed with some buildings displaying<br />

British architectural trimmings (the attic windows high<br />

up on the slanting roofs built by British technicians<br />

進入了40多年前的時光隧道,早期工業時代的廉價公<br />

寓散布在英式建築之間,而那些英式建築則是抗戰時<br />

期在此開採煤礦的英國工程師修建的,其頂樓的窗口<br />

位於傾斜的屋頂之上,展現了典型的英式建築裝飾;<br />

and Yuejin, where you can catch the train. The<br />

train runs forth and back four times daily (from<br />

Yuejin at 6am, 9.30am, 2pm and 5.30pm). There<br />

Town life remains quaint even by Sichuan standards. The<br />

market is a mélange of stalls, including herbalists, dentists<br />

and barbers. In the evenings, the inhabitants dance and<br />

play mahjong in the town square, which is enclosed by the<br />

phantom buildings of another era: the auditorium and former<br />

hospital. Mao’s revolutionary slogans survive on the façades of<br />

some buildings. The air is infused with the smell of coal (local<br />

people still heat their houses and cook on coal, which comes<br />

from a tiny mine that still operates), the whistles and hisses of<br />

the train (local people can tell the time by the passage of the<br />

train) and the clanging of the workshop near the station.<br />

The blacksmith’s workshop is also a sight from another<br />

era. “I learned the craft from my father, and my father<br />

learned the trade from his father,” says Yang Fuzheng, the<br />

blacksmith. “When I was younger I could do a hexagonal<br />

nut by free-forging, but now I work with a die forge.” The<br />

die forge is the only mechanised piece of machinery in<br />

the workshop, and Yang moves in a kind of tango with<br />

the machine, the die forge pounding automatically by air<br />

compression and Yang flitting around it with the red-hot<br />

metal in his hands, shaping the metal this way and that.<br />

He produces spare parts for the railway, as well as tools<br />

and farming paraphernalia. “I work like the train,” he says,<br />

“normally finishing the day’s work when the last whistle of<br />

the train dies away at 7pm.”<br />

A trip to Tsukiji fish market reveals the<br />

wonders of the Japanese diet<br />

Tokyo’s Tsukiji fish market holds a daily tuna auction<br />

that has always netted enormous interest. And, for the<br />

usually understated fishmongers of the world’s largest<br />

seafood mart, the first auction of the year is a chance<br />

to showboat, to start the new calendar with a bang –<br />

and, above all, to hit the headlines.<br />

The first auction of <strong>2009</strong> didn’t disappoint.<br />

Despite the choppy waters of an international financial<br />

meltdown, a bluefin tuna sold for just a few beans short of<br />

JPY10 million. That’s over US$100,000 – for a fish! Admittedly<br />

it wasn’t a sprat but a 128kg tuna. Nonetheless it’s still a lot of<br />

bread for a fish…<br />

Take a walk around Tsukiji – or rather, duck and dive<br />

speeding stevedores on electric carts and porters hauling trays<br />

of catch over their heads – and it soon becomes obvious that<br />

tuna, along with almost all other things plucked from<br />

明瞭為什麼鮪魚,和所有拖拽出海面的生物,會在這裡得到應有的<br />

尊重與對待。唉,對觀光客來說,無法進入拍賣會場一窺漁人們的<br />

聖所,還真是一大遺憾,不過,觀光客還是可以在這個精彩絕倫的<br />

海鮮舞台裡閒晃、逛攤位。<br />

the sea, are respected and adored here. Alas, the same<br />

cannot be said for tourists, who have been getting under<br />

fishmongers’ feet so much that access to the auctions is<br />

limited. However, onlookers can still wander the alleys<br />

and aisles of this extraordinary theatre.<br />

Tetsuya Kobayashi – a lifelong Tokyoite who, like<br />

many of his neighbours, rarely thinks to visit Tsukiji<br />

– explains what buyers look for in sushi- or sashimigrade<br />

tuna. “Feel and fattiness!” he smiles. “Basically<br />

they use a corer to extract a small plug of meat from<br />

the tail end. These men know the fish so well they can<br />

sense the quality of the meat by simply pressing the<br />

small sample between their thumb and forefinger.” The<br />

buyer determines the quality of what in English would<br />

simply be known as a tuna steak, but what the Japanese<br />

have a dozen or more words for depending upon the<br />

cut and the grade. Akami,<br />

for example, is the ruby<br />

meat from along the<br />

backbone. It’s lean, has a<br />

vaguely bitter taste and is<br />

available in three grades,<br />

each with its own name. At<br />

the other end of the scale,<br />

o-toro (the honorific ‘o’ at<br />

the start signifies that it is<br />

widely revered) is found<br />

in the belly. This rare meat<br />

has a pale pink colour and needs to be handled gingerly<br />

as, due to its tenderness and high fat content, the finest<br />

examples can easily fall apart when sliced. When eaten,<br />

just the warmth of the tongue can make it dissolve. It is<br />

sweet and creamy, and surely the nectar of the sea.<br />

But Kobayashi insists that Tsukiji is about far more<br />

than big fish pulling even bigger sums of money. “There’s<br />

snow crab and trout, abalone, squid and roe, cockles<br />

and razor clams, and eel.” The simplest way to sample<br />

all of these treasures is to skip between the whizzing<br />

stevedores and loaded lorries dripping salty water, past<br />

the fishermen’s shrine, to the Outer Market.<br />

These crowded lanes to the north-east of Tsukiji are<br />

home to wet stalls, sushi parlours and hole-in-the-wall<br />

eateries serving all manner of the freshest seafood.<br />

前背、中背、後背三個等級;與背部對應的腹部魚<br />

肉,也分三等級:前腹稱為o-toro的大脂,和中腹、<br />

後腹稱為chu-toro的中脂。大脂肉以「o」為開頭,<br />

是日語中的敬語,顯示這塊肉的珍貴稀有,它色澤呈<br />

淡粉紅,肉質極為柔軟,含有豐富的油脂,處理時須<br />

極為小心,這塊美味的魚肉如果一滑落,就會碎裂不<br />

成塊了。吃鮪魚大脂時,只須以舌頭的溫度便能將大<br />

脂溶化,吃來甜美、口感綿<br />

密柔順,不啻為海鮮中的瓊<br />

各樣生鮮美食。如果不想第<br />

一餐就吃生魚片,那市場外<br />

圍也有眾多小吃店提供各式<br />

早餐,其中鰻魚蓋飯是不錯<br />

的選擇。<br />

以醬油、味醂、糖等調味料所調製出來的濃稠醬<br />

汁,刷抹在火爐上以小火慢烤的淡水鰻魚上,那甘甜<br />

的魚肉嘗來帶有煙燻的碳香味,瞬間讓飢餓的食客繳<br />

械投降,只能邊吃邊愉悅地讚嘆:「嗯⋯嗯⋯」。<br />

想轉變到不同步調的空間去,不妨到市場旁邊的<br />

濱離宮恩賜庭園。這裡過去是幕府德川將軍家的獵鷹<br />

場,偌大的將軍休閒園場有一部分已成為築地市場,<br />

這座庭園可算是東京最精緻的庭園,碎石小徑兩旁植<br />

栽著精心修剪成的方型樹籬,草地上儘是小野花。抬<br />

頭從庭園茂密的松林、榆海望去,是東京摩天大樓群<br />

劃出的天際線,置身在這精緻的庭園中,讓人遺忘彼<br />

方忙碌的塵囂。<br />

築地市場的碼頭也可搭遊輪順隅田川遊覽,可一<br />

路航抵淺草和遊客如織的淺草寺(淺草寺以金尊觀音<br />

像吸引各方信眾,這裡所祭拜的觀音是1,500年前<br />

If sashimi doesn’t appeal as the first meal of the day,<br />

then a good breakfast alternative widely available in the<br />

Outer Market is unadon (eel and rice). Freshwater eel<br />

is slowly griddled with the occasional, heavy-handed<br />

brush of kabayaki, a sticky mix of soy sauce, mirin (a<br />

condiment) and sugar. The smoky fish oils mingling<br />

with the sweet marinade can easily make hungry diners<br />

lose all ability to communicate other than with an<br />

occasional, appreciative “Mmmmm!”<br />

For a total change of pace, head around the market<br />

to neighbouring Hama Rikyu Onshiteien (‘Detached<br />

Palace Garden’). Once a Tokugawa shogun’s sprawling<br />

pleasure grounds, part of which is now occupied by<br />

the market, this is perhaps Tokyo’s finest park, with<br />

expertly manicured patches (think raked gravels and<br />

pruned box hedges) that contrast with meadows of<br />

wild flowers and meandering paths (equally expertly<br />

maintained). Despite nearby skyscrapers peering over<br />

the canopy of the garden’s pine and elm trees, it’s easy<br />

to forget the city beyond.<br />

From here there are river cruises along the Sumida<br />

River, heading all the way up to Asakusa and its busy<br />

precincts around historic Senso-ji Temple (with<br />

its golden statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy,<br />

supposedly fished from the Sumida almost 1,500<br />

years ago). Alternatively the seafood enthusiast can<br />

pop over to Tsukishima district. It’s just a couple of<br />

stops on the subway, but seems a million miles away<br />

from the hustle of the market or the sweeping open<br />

spaces of Hama Rikyu. Ensconced on a riverine<br />

island, Tsukishima has a village-like atmosphere and<br />

is popular for tsukudani, whitebait simmered in a<br />

kabayaki-like broth then allowed to dry. The snack is<br />

moreish and chewy, salty and sweet.<br />

Whether you’re a seafood aficionado or simply a curious<br />

tourist, the Tsukiji district is an enthralling introduction to<br />

Tokyo and its love of the oceans’ riches.<br />

Tsukiji fish market is close to both Tsukiji-shijo subway station<br />

(Toei Oedo Line) and Tsukiji subway station (Hibiya Line). Trains run<br />

from about 5am, enabling you to reach the market in good time.<br />

The market is closed on Sundays, on some Wednesdays and on public holidays.<br />

Macau is being groomed as an attractive<br />

destination for hosting business events<br />

On any given day, the number of business people in Macau<br />

Tower, Fisherman’s Wharf or The Venetian is beginning to<br />

rival the number of tourists. With the 31 July announcement<br />

by the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) that it<br />

is increasing MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and<br />

exhibitions) support with an updated budget of MOP44<br />

million, the likelihood of Macau transforming into an Asian<br />

convention hub is rapidly increasing.<br />

“The Macau Business Tourism Centre (MBTC), a<br />

division of the MGTO, was established in April 2006 to<br />

CABIN BAGGAGE:<br />

Place loose items such as hand luggage or handbags under<br />

your seat or in the overhead locker during take-off and<br />

landing. In addition, passengers in bulkhead seats should<br />

keep the floor areas in front of them clear during take-off<br />

and landing.<br />

ELECTRONIC DEVICES:<br />

The use of Bluetooth or remote-controlled devices is<br />

prohibited as such devices may interfere with the aircraft’s<br />

navigation and communication systems. Laptops, PDAs<br />

and audio/video equipment can be used 15 minutes after<br />

take-off but must be switched off once the fasten seatbelt<br />

sign has been illuminated.<br />

NO SMOKING: All Air Macau flights are non smoking<br />

and it is an offence to smoke in any part of the aircraft at<br />

any time.<br />

inflight health tiPs<br />

To ensure your comfort in the air and help you feel relaxed<br />

and refreshed on arrival at your destination, Air Macau<br />

offers the following advice to passengers:<br />

EATING AND DRINKING:<br />

Try to eat a light meal before and during your flight and<br />

avoid heavy foods which prove difficult to digest when<br />

inactive. Avoid excessive intake of alcohol and caffeine to<br />

prevent headaches and bloating; alcohol and caffeine act<br />

as diuretics, which increase the body’s dehydration.<br />

CABIN PRESSURE:<br />

The aircraft is pressurised to maintain a healthy<br />

environment, but if you have a cold or sinus infection, the<br />

cabin pressure may cause discomfort. You can combat this<br />

by swallowing, sucking on a sweet or yawning. If you’re<br />

suffering from nasal congestion or allergies, use nasal<br />

sprays, decongestants and antihistamines 30 minutes prior<br />

to descent to help open up ear and sinus passages.<br />

LOW HUMIDITY:<br />

To beat the low humidity in the cabin, which may leave<br />

you feeling dehydrated, drink plenty of water or fruit juice<br />

both before you board the plane and during your flight.<br />

Apply moisturiser and lip balm to prevent your skin from<br />

drying out and wear glasses instead of contact lenses to<br />

avoid eye irritation.<br />

inflight eXerCises:<br />

Sitting upright in a chair for a sustained period of time can<br />

affect blood circulation, which can cause muscle tension<br />

as well as fluid retention. To boost circulation during the<br />

flight, don’t forget to do some simple stretching exercises,<br />

such as flexing your toes up and down and raising your<br />

knees gently towards your chest. Another good exercise<br />

involves lifting your thighs toward your chest then rotating<br />

your ankles individually in a circular motion; neck rolls and<br />

shoulder shrugs are also good. It is recommended that you<br />

do this for three to four minutes for every hour that you<br />

are in the air. Walking around the plane every hour is also<br />

a good idea. Breathing exercises are also recommended in<br />

order to increase bloodflow and aid relaxation.<br />

JET-LAG BUSTER:<br />

Get plenty of sleep before your trip.<br />

Don’t drink alcohol.<br />

Eat small, well-balanced meals. Don’t overeat!<br />

Exercise as much as you can on your trip.<br />

Use sleeping tablets for only a few days.<br />

If possible, give yourself a day or two to adjust to the new<br />

time zone after arrival.<br />

Eat and sleep at the same times the locals do.<br />

登機安全措施<br />

起飛前:請詳閱在您前方的安全卡,救生衣位於您的座位底下。請<br />

確認最接近您座位的前後兩個緊急出口的位置。<br />

登機行李:起飛及降落時,請將易鬆動的物品如手提行李或手提包<br />

放置於您座位下方,或是您頭頂上方之行李艙。<br />

電子設備:禁止使用藍牙或遙控設備,以免干擾飛機的飛航與通訊<br />

設備。起飛後15分鐘即可使用筆記型電腦、PDA和視聽儀器,但一<br />

旦「繫起安全帶」的燈亮起,就必須予以關閉。<br />

禁止吸煙:澳門航空的所有班機皆禁止吸煙,在機艙內任何地方吸<br />

煙皆屬違法行為。<br />

飛行健康小百科<br />

為了保證您飛行途中的舒適,並為了幫助您在抵達目的地時能感到<br />

輕鬆愉快、精神奕奕,澳門航空提供以下建議給乘客:<br />

進食與飲料:不論是飛行前或是飛行途中,最好能選用清淡、富營<br />

養的食物,儘量避免讓腸胃負擔過重。另外,亦應避免攝取含酒精<br />

及咖啡因的飲品,以免引發頭痛和暈機;這類飲料也具有利尿的作<br />

用,會增加身體的脫水速度,因此宜儘量避免。<br />

艙壓:機艙內的特殊壓力能為乘客提供健康的環境,但若您正感冒<br />

或感染鼻竇炎,可能會因艙壓感到不適,您可多使用吞嚥、吃糖果<br />

或是打哈欠的動作以減輕不適。若您正受鼻塞或過敏症狀所苦,可<br />

在飛機降落前30分鐘使用通鼻噴劑、抗鼻塞藥品和抗組織胺劑,以<br />

舒緩上耳道及靜脈竇通道的不適。<br />

低濕度:機艙內的低濕度也許會讓您覺得體內水份流失較快,而略<br />

感不適,建議您在登機前及飛行途中多喝水或果汁,並改戴眼鏡而<br />

非隱形眼鏡,以免引起乾眼之困擾。<br />

空中舒緩運動:在椅子上坐直一段時間會影響血液循環,進而引起<br />

肌肉緊張和水份滯留(水腫)。為了在飛行途中增加血液循環,別<br />

忘了做一些簡單的伸展操,例如經常上下動動腳趾、將膝蓋輕輕向<br />

胸前的方向舉起等。另一個很好的動作是將大腿向胸前抬高,再以<br />

固定的方向旋轉腳踝;轉動脖子和聳聳肩膀也是很好的舒緩操。建<br />

議您在飛行途中,每隔一小時就做這樣一套完整動作3到4分鐘。
