ISOMETRIC PROJECTION<br />

5. Draw an isometric projecti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> a frustum <strong>of</strong> hexag<strong>on</strong>al pyramid <strong>of</strong> shorter base side <strong>of</strong> 25<br />

mm and l<strong>on</strong>ger base side <strong>of</strong> 45 mm and height <strong>of</strong> 75 mm resting <strong>on</strong> its larger base <strong>on</strong> H.P.<br />

with two <strong>of</strong> its base sides parallel to V.P.<br />

6. Draw an isometric projecti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> a hemisphere <strong>of</strong> 50 mm diameter kept with circular face<br />

<strong>on</strong> H.P.<br />

1.4 COMBINATION OF TWO SOLIDS<br />

We have already studied and learnt the isometric projecti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> single geometrical solids in<br />

vertical positi<strong>on</strong> and horiz<strong>on</strong>tal positi<strong>on</strong> by using box method from the helping view <strong>of</strong> the solid.<br />

Now we will learn the two geometrical solids placed together i.e. <strong>on</strong>e resting (either vertical or<br />

horiz<strong>on</strong>tal) <strong>on</strong> top <strong>of</strong> the other solid in isometric positi<strong>on</strong> (either vertical or horiz<strong>on</strong>tal). This is<br />

known as 'combinati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> solids'. As per the course c<strong>on</strong>tent in our syllabus we are going to restrict<br />

our combinati<strong>on</strong> using two solids <strong>on</strong>ly.<br />

The study <strong>of</strong> the combinati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> solids will help us in understanding the machine blocks to be d<strong>on</strong>e<br />

in isometric positi<strong>on</strong> and assembly drawings <strong>of</strong> the functi<strong>on</strong>al machine comp<strong>on</strong>ents at a later<br />

stage in <strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Graphics</strong>.<br />

Example : 1.21<br />

Draw an Isometric Projecti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> a square prism having side <strong>of</strong> the square = 30 mm<br />

and height = 54 mm standing (upright) and centrally <strong>on</strong> a flat square slab <strong>of</strong><br />

thickness = 26 mm and its base side = 52 mm.<br />
