TIE-ROD AND PIPE JOINTS<br />
In such cases, an adjustable joint known as 'turnbuckle' is used. It serves as a joining device<br />
between the ropes and the posts or rods.<br />
5.1.1 FEATURES:<br />
COMMERCIAL TYPE TURNBUCKLE.<br />

The 'turnbuckle' c<strong>on</strong>sists <strong>of</strong> an el<strong>on</strong>gated metal tube (body) which is cylindrical in shape<br />
and has tapered ends. Its central porti<strong>on</strong> has a slot to aid tightening and loosening <strong>of</strong> rods<br />
by tomy bar. Each tapered end <strong>of</strong> the body has threaded holes with opposite internal<br />
screw threads, i.e. Right hand (RH) threads at <strong>on</strong>e end and left-hand (LH) threads at the<br />
other, as shown in Fig 5.3 (a)<br />
