The FirstPass Suture Passer from ArthroCare ® Sports
Medicine is such an instrument. With the FirstPass
suture passer you will be able to single-handedly pass
and retrieve suture. The unique pre-curved nitinol
needle will ensurre reliable suture passing. The bite
depth of up to 18mm will enable suture placement
at the desired location. The FixedForce tissue
clamping mechanism will adjust automatically for
tissue thickness up to 10mm.

Assembly

Load the needle

Insert lower jaw Pinch wings and fully close lever
Test before use
Fully deploy the needle. The curved needle will emerge through the opening between the teeth of the trap
(see image in step one on next page). Fully release the lever and the needle will retract back into the shaft.

Inspect the needle before removal
