Thallus crustlike, flat, adnate, rather regular, or leaflike,
and peltate ; apothecia composed of a gloi3ular thalamium
hidden in the substance of the thallus; peritkecium single,
membranaceous, thin, transparent, with a thick, nearly
nippleUke prominent mouth, at the surface of the thallus
and enclosing a globular nucleus, nearly similar to the
thallus.

small, slightly peltate, flat, pressed close, rounded, not
cut, yellowish-green ; mouths depressed, reddish-brown.

Thallus crustlike, membranaceous, spreading, rather
leaflike, unbroken, wavy, frequently tiledlike, cracked, ashgrey,
hoary; circumference -i'regular, crenately lobed, underneath
black, rather spongy; mouths raised, convex,
black, pierced.
