Thallus crustlike, flat, expanded, uniform ; apolhecia
wartlike, formed of the thallus, most commonly sorediumlike,
slightly bordered, white; nucleus naked and without
a perithecium, compressed, cellular, hidden in the substance
of the wart, and usually covered with the thalluSj
sometimes becomes uncovered. Soredia very numerous.

Crust regular, rather cartilaginous, bald, very white,
nearly radiately plaited ; apolhecia smooth, compressed,
swollen ; nucleus rather lentilshape, covered above with a
thin powdery veil.
