that each individual participating or involved with this programme reads the regulations prior to
starting their practical modules at the Stenden university hotel. In doing so, you will realized
that in the hospitality industry, good attitude, open-mindedness and hospitality towards others
are necessary tools to possess. This is not only relevant for practice, but also throughout your
study at Stenden.
1. General
1.1 Every IHM student is obligated to purchase a knife set as well as the book entitled
“New Dutch Cuisine” by Albert Kooij for the kitchen training.
1.2 If you have a chronic illness that can lead to absence throughout your module, please
inform the module coordinators of that specific module at least two weeks prior to
start of module.
1.3 Inform the practical instructors about absence in instances where you may have an
appointment with the doctor.
1.4 Driving lessons should be scheduled outside of school hours or practice shifts.
1.5 During school hours only urgent calls will be transferred to you.
1.6 If you destroy property, you will be required to replace it, monetarily.
1.7 Copiers, printers and computers are not for personal use.
2. Attitude
2.1 Always act in a correct manner towards guests, students and employees.
2.2 Do not leave valuables unattended.
2.3 There is a no smoking within the entire building. Smoking is only permitted in the
designative areas located outside Stenden or on the third floor.
2.4 Always be on time and be prepared
2.5 If caught stealing you will be directed to the Dean of IHM.
3. Admission to the hotel and public
3.1 Admission through the hotel is for guests if Stenden university hotel only; student
must use the front or back entrance of the school only.
3.2 Students are not allowed in the operational areas of the hotel when they are off duty.
In instances where you need to access the operational areas, you should make an
appointment via mail or telephone.
4. Clothing
Each student is expected to be properly dress for practice, this include complete uniform
necessary for the practice department and badges. As employees of Stenden university
hotel, you are expected to act and appear professionally.
Male Students: Guidelines for a Professional Appearance
4.1 Mobile phones are not permitted on the practice floor
4.2 Chewing gum and sweets are not permitted on the practice floor
4.3 Students are obligated to be in complete school uniform (pants, clean and ironed
college blouse, green tie and jacket)
4.4 Students are obligated to have polished black shoes. Trainers, boots, platforms shoes,
etc. are not permitted on the practice floor.
4.5 Students should be clean shaven
4.6 Socks should be either black or navy blue and free of prints.
4.7 A badge, the language flag and the Green Key Flag should be placed on the left side of
the blouse/jacket (flags above the name tag, in which the flags are located on one
line)
4.8 Earrings, piercings and tattoos are not permitted
4.9 Long hair is not permitted (hair should not reach or surpass your collar)
4.10 Extreme hair color is also not permitted
4.11 It is allowed to one watch and one ring per hand.
Female Students: Guidelines for a Professional Appearance

ironed college blouse, green tie and jacket)
4.4 Students are obligated to have polished black shoes. Trainers, boots, ballerinas,
platforms shoes, etc. are not permitted on the practice floor.
4.5 Skin-color nylon skirts are permitted on the practice floor
4.6 A badge, the language flag and the Green Key Flag should be placed on the left side of
the blouse/jacket (flags above the name tag, in which the flags are located on one
line)
