On 5 July 2004, insurgents of NLFT
(BM) kidnapped Rama Kumar Debbarma
of Daharampara and his sister from
Chandraipara under RK Pur police station
of West Tripura. 37
On 26 August 2004, alleged members
of the ATTF raided the house of one
Hrishamoni Debbarma, Chairman of a
local Panchayat body and kidnapped his
son Suraj at gun point from Belcherra
under Khowai police station. 38
On 24 September 2004, alleged
members of the NLFT kidnapped
Madhuram Debbarma, a rubber cultivator
by profession, Dilip Debbarma and Arun
Orang of Kachubari village under
Champahowar police station of West
Tripura. 39
On the night of 11 October 2004,
alleged members of the National
Liberation Front of Tripura reportedly
raided Chhagaldema village in North
Tripura district and kidnapped two
villagers, Bishak Debbarma and Pradip
Debbarma. 40
On 18 October 2004, Jawhar
Debbarma and Mohanta Debbarma were
reportedly kidnapped by NLFT from
Kalatilla under Kumarghat police station.
The victims belonging to Rajkandi

reportedly went to Kalatilla, 25 km from
police station, for collecting bamboo along
with another villager, Kunjalata
Debbarma. According to Kunjalata, three
armed rebels appeared there and abducted
Jawhar and Mohanta at gun point and
retreated towards dense forest. 41
Non-tribal victims
On 9 March 2004, Anukul Das, a jeep
driver, who was kidnapped from Barcherra
under Kanchanpur subdivision in January
2004 was released after his family paid a
hefty ransom for his release. Das, who
complained to the Kanchanpur police,
failed to disclose anything on the fate of
passenger Jamini Sutradhar, who was
kidnapped along with him. 42
On the night of 26 April 2004, alleged
members of the Borok National Council of
Tripura (BNCT) reportedly raided
Chhantail village in North Tripura district
and kidnapped one Srikanta Ghosh from
his house. 43
On 8 June 2004, alleged members of
the banned ATTF raided a railway work
site at Gandharlong Bari and kidnapped
two of the workers- Ranik Roy and Arun
Nama- at gunpoint. 44
On the mid-night of 6 June 2004,
alleged ATTF cadres reportedly stormed
the house of one Tarani Debnath at a
remote hamlet under Kulai police station in
Dhalai district and killed him. The ATTF
cadres then kidnapped his 13-year-old
daughter Jhuma Debnath, a student of class
