Endemic Fauna of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Bay of Bengal

of which 13 species are endemic comprising 23.52%, where as the terrestrial component
representing 101 species (Subba Rao and Mitra, 1991) of which 87 species (Ramakrishna and
Mitra, 2002) are endemic comprising 86%. It is found that out of the total 227 endemic
molluscs of the islands, 168 (74%) species are restricted to Andaman group, 42 (19%) species
to Nicobar and 17 (7%) species to both the island groups.
